I have been trying to find someone to satisfy a search I am on, but have exhausted all options. I am trying to find one player who has a better 5 year cumulative # in the b-ball ref advanced stats than harden.

PER, WS, WS/48, Bpm, VORP
all of the major advanced stats. I can’t find one player who beats harden in any one of them. Clean sweep. Please let me know if you can find someone who has him beat at any of those over the last 5 years. also you can toggle you range to 6 years, 4 years, 3 years... quite an unbelievable run.
LOL what the George Gervin stans rely on since Gervin filled up the stat sheet real well too

bc the narrative for mvp changes each year. Being in the conversation every year holds more value than winning any one season. Mvp shares adds up the cumulative % of votes that a player has received. When you are top 2 every year for a half decade > winning it one year and then being out the mix the rest. Mvp shares reflects that.
That is why mvp shares is such a great stat. Harden ahead of all those guys save for Timmy. Look at the top 10 career mvp shares list it is an outstanding list of top 10 all time players. I am not sure I found a single stat that portrays it better tbt.

Gervin dreams of harden level domination

Dream would have never gotten past GSW. And hardens rockets would have won the same finals dream did. You always gotta be big picture and consider the competition.

Two hypos which will never be proven, conjecture and speculation all I know is Hakeem led the Rockets to 3 Finals and Harden led them to 0 and Hakeem won 2 (and 2 Finals MVPs for good measure) and Harden has yet to win one, IDC what you say and all that crap you cannot argue with a straight face that Harden is superior to the only player to lead this city's pro basketball team to a title

You do realize the 95 6 Seed Rockets defeated the 60-win Stockton/Malone Jazz, 59-win Barkley/KJ/Majerle/Wayman Tisdale Suns, 62-win Admiral/Rodman Spurs, and 57-win Shaq/Penny/Grant/Scott/Anderson Magic to win their 2nd straight ring right? You do remember or at least know of that? Cmon man, your reaching is at Olympic levels now.

Do I also need to mention that Hakeem single-handedly defeated the defending champ 62-win Showtime Lakers to advance to the 86 Finals? Cmon man.

Gervin dreams of harden level domination
-Led the NBA in scoring 4x
-averaged 31-5-3 during that stretch (regular season)
-played for Spurs teams which averaged around 50 wins a year
-averaged 31-7-4 on 50% FG in the playoffs during that time too

Great, point that out to me in this debate's rules and format as an element

Duncan is easily #1. From there I'd go:
Hakeem
Dirk
Robinson
Gervin, Harden, Parker, or Manu
Not counting guys who didn't play bulk of their careers outside of TX

Dreams words from himself. Dream would tell you harden is better than he was.
It’s very difficult to carry a team from that position, and [Harden] has proven that comfortably, reaching new heights,” Olajuwon said during an appearance on SportsTalk 790’s ‘The A-Team.’ “Look at his statistics. He’s a player to the level of Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain.”

What did you expect Dream to say? Trash him? I can't speak for Dream or his true mens rea but comes off to me as he's playing it PC and giving respect, like I said whether it be Gervin or Harden they lead their teams to that success and produce all-time stats but Harden's in his 30s and he hasn't even advanced to the title series as an alpha of a team. I know and completely understand that Houstonians love Harden because he's restored the team to "contender" status and breaks statistical records as well, I don't think Hakeem's gonna venture into that land of alienating Houstonians by trashing their current guy, Dream's the greatest Rocket ever (until Harden wins multiple rings/Finals MVPs with the team-long shot), ambassador of the team and city, doesn't benefit him or his relationship with Rockets fans, makes him come off as a grumpy jealous old dick, would be dumb.

Harden lead the league in win share for 4 straight seasons.
Only other players to do that.
Prime lebron
Prime Jordan
Prime Kareem
Prime wilt
That is the level of sustained dominance portrayed by harden the last half decade. Dream cannot compete.

Harden in Texas with Houston is in excess of 28 ppg. Also top 10 all time..in playoff PER.

I’m sure we all reflect on “win shares” when contemplating that Dream has two rings on his fingers and advanced to 3 Finals as alpha and Harden has zero rings and advanced to zero Finals as alpha, this discussion is a joke the dude isn’t even better in Texas history than Moses Malone and that guy actually led a the team Harden plays for to the Finals

You are mixing up team v individual accomplishments and disregarding competition in a way that makes me embarrassed for you.
Lets put it like this: No team dream was ever a part of would have beaten the golden state warriors that we have seen the last few years. there is many players who won multiple titles who would have zero had they had to go through these GOAT Warriors. if you can’t realize that then discussing hoops with you in a even a somewhat serious level is futile.

Just to throw out a new name:
Elvin Hayes
I know the bulk of his career was with the Bullets, but he is worthy of a mention in the category of “greats who spent time in Texas”.
My 5:
Duncan
Olajuwon
Dirk
Robinson
Gervin
