Steve Kerr averaged less than 1 three made per game for his entire career.

The guy was an 8th or 9th option on multiple Championship teams and benefited from playing with some of the greatest players of all time, literally.

One of the most overrated basketball players (and coaches by the way) of all time.

Not even close

There is nothing like Klay Thompson God Mode.

Not even from Curry.

I also think Klay has the prettiest shot of all time. Thing is like butter. Just perfect.

How was the all time leader for 3 point attempts in a season left off this list?

5. Reggie Miller: There was a point in time where Miller was widely considered to be the greatest shooter of all-time.

4. Larry Bird

He doesn’t have the total numbers compared to those guys... but as far as actual shooting ability I’d say he and Steph really are the two greatest shooters in NBA history.

Through their first 8 seasons:

Klay Thompson-
4,512 FGM at 45.93%
1,798 3PTM at 41.90%
1,173 FTM at 84.75%

Ray Allen-
4,005 FGM at 44.85%
1,252 3PTM at 40.13%
2,132 FTM at 88.46%

Reggie Miller-
4,132 FGM at 49.34%
1,035 3PTM at 39.47%
3,186 FTM at 87.91%

Larry Bird-
6,128 FGM at 49.96%
357 3PTM at 36.84%
2,895 FTM at 87.44%

Give me Klay, but it is close. He is clearly the best 3 pt shooter of the 4. One thing I thought was wild was how many times Reggie Miller got to the free throw line. Pretty unreal he was fouled more than Bird considered their positions.

Recency bias they exclude Pistol Pete and maybe even Sam Jones, Sam was a deadeye player in his day totally underrated, the prototype for the modern shooting guard. I can’t argue the top 4 though I def think being a shooter represents more than just being proficient from long-range, mid-range has to count for something too. Bird was as good a shooter from all ranges as any I’ve ever seen and his form was perfect. Also WHERE’S JERRY WEST?

This list is just pure shooting ability. Kerr had 4 seasons where he shot at least 1.5 threes a game and made over 50%.

He also shot over 90% from the line 5 times and was .975 one season. He was never going to get off a ton of shots bc he only played 17.8 mpg, but he was a tremendous pure shooter.

Now let's play this game, you have a gun to your head, you must pick one guy ever to make a shot or you die.

The answer every time is Larry Bird.

The second is probably Reggie Miller.

Thats the list, folks.

I might say Ray Allen after Larry, but yeah I like that line of thinking.

Although being clutch isn't the only thing that makes a shooter great. It is just one piece of it.

Larry flat out didn't shoot enough 3s for me to consider him in the top 5 for greatest shooters.

If Michael Jordan isn't on that list, it's invalid. MJ, LeBron, Bird, Miller and maybe Horry are your top five playoff clutch shooters.

We'd have to disagree then. I'm going with Klay if we just need someone to make a shot. Obviously Bird is a hell of a lot better at creating his own shot. No competition.

But if I just need a guy to catch and shoot. I want Klay every single time.

I really don't think this list is all that controversial. It looks pretty good to me.
