I've followed his career with interest. I think he's a future all-pro in the NFL.

In terms of just flat out coaching Paul Johnson is as good of a gameday coach as it gets

Ferentz..Tedford...

Its Cal, when he took over they were 1-10 and on probation. They hadn't beaten Stanford in 7 years.

Under Tedford, Cal is 7-2 in the Big Game.Of the 10 bowl games Cal has won, he was the HC for 5 of them. He is 30 games above .500, his winning % at Cal is higher than Steve Mariucci, Marv Levy, & Bruce Snyder.

Ferentz has taken Iowa to 2 BCS bowl games, & in about 5 years he will be the winningest coach in school history.

Ferentz is the most successful Iowa coach... since the last guy.

I'm not saying he sucks, but he's not in the top 10 based on accomplishments.

I expected a response by this, but anyone who has payed attention to his tenure dating back to even Navy, he's an ingame adjustment master

Agreed, Cal was horrific before Tedford showed up. He turned them around very fast, but it seems like he maxed out his potential a few years ago and is on the decline now. His teams always fold late in the season. It's been great being able to play them in November and December the past few years .

Stanford has been terrible outside of the past few years. Like one of the worst teams in the country terrible.

I have paid attention since he was with Navy. IF he ws that good of a GAME master [as you say] His overall record would be better. ESP at GATech.

Cal has had some of the best talent in the country and hasn't been able to even get to a BCS game. They've churned out quality NFL players and haven't won anything

If Cal has a bad year this year, there's a chance that he'll be fired

3 years at Tech taking over a team with absolutely no OL he made the peach bowl the 1st year and won the ACC second year and made a BCS bowl with a makeshift OL..had a letdown this past season due to a bunch of reasons but GT will be back on the up and up this year and hes going to take them places

This. Cal fans are getting pretty sick of Tedford over the past few years. I think the new facilities thing may keep him around for a few more years though since he was the guy that really pushed for all of that.

Last year they won 5 games, his worse season. However those 5 wins were more than Cal won in the 3 seasons before he got there, combined.

His contract is an odd one to say the least. Base salary 225K, it runs thur 2015, however any season that Cal wins 9 games, an additional year is added with a 50K raise. If he is still employed next Jan, he gets a 1.5 million dollar bonus(if they fire him he still gets the money) He gets another million dollar bonus if he is still employed in 1/2014. He also agrees to administer one week each summer for Cal Camp and gets 1.5 million for talent fees. It is believe Nike is providing the funds.

He is allowed reward 250K after each season in bonuses to his staff. Plus another 216K in talent fees, he is allow to give to his staff each year,(Nike money)

He also gets the usually bonuses for bowl games, pac-10 championships, BCS bowl games......

but also he gets 25K every semester the football teams GPA is over 2.8 and 250K bouns if he is the head coach when the Simpson High Performance Center is open. He can't take a job at any Pac-10 school, however should he die his heirs recieve all bonus money including the retention bounses and talent fees.

I don't think he is going anywhere any time soon.
