So LSU shouldn't be 9th.
I'll give them this... They did nail the top 4. No problems there.

There aren't. Read his post closer.

There aren't any metrics. A computer can only spit out what you put in
Lsu has better wins then Notre dame and Stanford. Check
Better strength of schedule than Nltee dame and Stanford. Check
Better loss than Stanford by a mile. Worse loss then Notre dame by 1

LSU is 8th in the BCS computers, and 6th in the Massey composite. They aren't 5 spots behind Notre Dame in either.

quote:Probably not, but if LSU wins out, it's virtually impossible for them to be below 6 since a minimum of three ahead of them will lose in the next few weeks.
So LSU shouldn't be 9th.

Because Michigan State should have won! Eye test!!!!
That there's no consistency to when the eye test is applied is the #1 reason this system is flawed.

True, but LSU has to be a lock in order for them to put us in, assuming we don't win the SEC.
Gonna take a lot for that to happen.

FYI the Massey Composite is a composite of 100 different rating systems. Several of them have Notre Dame 5 or more spots ahead of LSU.

Exactly. Which is why eye test should not be considered at all.
Seriously, college football is the only sport on the entire fricking planet where "eye test" matters. In pro sports, if you lose because you had to play at 9am pacific time, then that's tough shite.
In college basketball and baseball, the committees select teams strictly off of résumés (RPI, SOS, top 50 wins, etc.) They don't give a flying frick about how teams look.
So why is it different in college football? Because there's less games, and therefore, less data? So that makes things more subjective?
Either way, it's stupid. Who have you played, who have you beaten, who have you lost to? That's all that should matter.

I know, just pointing out that neither has Notre Dame 5 spots ahead of LSU.

I have to think USC is going to get in there sometime soon.
Two relatively close (10 points) losses to the #4 and #7 team. One relatively bad loss, though UW is still OK.
They clobbered the #10 team and have a few more decent wins. They are in the top 15 or top 20 in almost every computer.
I don't get that one.

I think Notre Dame's top 3 wins are better than LSU's top 3 wins, honestly.
The committee should have to rank all 120 teams, or however many there are, so we can see where they think every team stacks up.
