Should be some type of penalty for losing control of the ball.
But it isn’t for every other time the offense fumbles out of bounds

Then it goes to where he fumbled the ball Like it would be in every other situation

Yeah, if an offensive player fumbles the ball forward and out of bounds it goes back to the spot of the fumble.

Except for the end zone.

I don’t understand a special rule to disincentivize an offensive player from trying to score a TD. From an entertainment perspective that should be encouraged

So do you think the defense should get the ball everytime the offense fumbled it out of bounds?

Crossing any other point on a field is worth zero points. Crossing a goal line is worth 6.

The end zone is a special area and is treated as such. There’s a risk/reward proposition for the offense and impetus is a factor any time the end zone is involved.

Again I agree it’s punitive but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out why the rule is like that.

It was a ridiculous question. If an offensive player has a 40 hard run and fumbles it out of bounds at the 8 they get the ball still. If they fumbled it out of bounds at the goal line the other team gets the ball at the 20. It’s the most illogical rule in all of sports

I wish they would fix the kickoff situation.

And if they hold anywhere else on the field it is just a penalty, not points and free kick. Thems the rules.

i just want consistency

we either view the defensive endzone as an extension of the defense and everything that goes in there unpossessed is considered a turnover and awarded to the defense or we simply change this rule to be consistent with every other rule that currently exists

I would argue pass interference is bad when the qb purposely throws it short. Maybe because it happens so much more often.

So many d penalties are auto 1st down.

Holding beyond the line of scrimmage shield go back to the previous spot for mark off.

Hits on qb should be reviewable due to how crippling they can be for nothing

Can't advance a muff....might be the worst.

It’s ridiculous how talented the Philly defensive front is.

Should the Vikings just punt on 1st down? At least play some field position battles?
