Morning MSB,
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but just looking to get a quick comparison between these irons. Specifically, what Mizuno and Ping irons most closely resemble the AP2 irons? I was able to play a round with the AP2s yesterday and loved them. I've had the same Ping irons for almost 8 years now and looking to upgrade. I'd like to make the jump to more of a players iron but before I bite the bullet I'd like to weigh all my options.

What kind of pings do you have now?

not sure about ping, but the MP-59's from mizuno use some of the same tech as the AP2 irons
mizuno's product page has a guide that tells you what type of handicap is best suited for their particular irons
eta: see below

I have AP2's and love them. You can't really go wrong with mizuno, ping or titleist

I still play with a set of ping zings I got when I was in 7th grade. Had them extended when I was in HS. Bought a set of DCI 962s in college, and don't play them ever.

I just got AP2's last year after upgrading from DCI's that were made in 1994.

I really dont see myself getting away from my PZ's. I hit them so well, and they still look new.

Kidding yourself if you think pings are much better than anything else. I was a ping man and was going to get the ansers but after hitting the mp59 it was an easy switch.

MP-64s here. Love them.

Have you thought about Taylormade? The golfguru on youtube made a good comparison video with the AP2s next to Taylormades Rocketbladez Tour.

I've never hit any Taylormade irons but love my TM driver and 3 wood. I plan on going to Edwin watts this evening and trying out some of the suggestions previously mentioned so I'll be sure to hit those as well. If I find some I like I'm gonna try to find a good used set

Rocketbladez Tour are very good irons - they are cast (instead of AP2s which are forged), so that could make a minor impact.

Mizuno JPX-EZ ftw
A true GI iron. More like the AP1 and G25s.
But the Mizuno JPX - EZ Forged is probably a good bridge club for someone who doesn't need a full player's iron

If you're going to hit some, don't be afraid to pick up the Callaway Apex. Looooong.
