He was literally the only bright spot on the Titans roster.
That's why it was a good trade for everyone involved. Titans aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Simmons alone wasn't going to win the Titans anything, so may as well trade him and gain something down the road. Bears get a solid player, and Simmons gets a chance to play for a team that can actually win something.

Yeah kind of a no brainer for Tennessee with that kind of value. Draft is still a crapshoot and you may not hit on a player as good as Simmons with them, but there’s really only one way to rebuild in the NFL, and that’s through the draft, and getting the right talent is important, but also timing that talent to when you have a competing roster is also a big factor. Titans clearly have a long road and likely will be going back to square 1 at QB soon, so you definitely cash in your chips with that kind of offer
Probably would feel different about that strategy if they had a more complete roster or even just a more solid young QB to build around. Without those, your best hope is more darts to throw at the lottery board
Similar to the Jets with the sauce trade. They still aren’t a good team by any means but they are clearly a lot more talented from all the extra ammo they got there
