i don't know if it's true or not but i have heard that back in the 90s when Morial was mayor, Tiger came to put on a clinic for poor kids or something like that and Morial brought his kids and some of his fellow politcian's kids. this pissed tiger off and he never came back.

doesn't sound too far fetched.

This. When the Foundation came and put on a clinic, the money was intended to reach certain charities. Morial, in typical NOLA politics, basically took the money and placed it in whatever he decided to, and the money never reached the intended charities. Tiger holds that against the city and will never play here

Yeah, that and the tournament's low prestige, I'm not surprised he has no interest in playing in NOLA.

The low prestige has nothing to do with Tiger not coming. Zurich Financial is a great sponsor with a top-six purse that is not a major. Another screw job my the Morial family.

Timing has alot to do with it, move the Zurich to the week before the Masters and it'd mean more.

There's already a bigger tournament that weekend.

ETA: and Tiger doesn't play in that one either because he doesn't play the week before a major

I'm just going off others in this thread that it's not prestigious.

Though, FWIW, the Zurich Classic doesn't go straight to mind when I think of prestigious non-Majors.

No doubt, but these guys are pros, the purse is huge for a minor tournament.

The Shell Houston Open? This was only its third-year being played the weekend before the Masters (I'm not sure what was in that slot before). I know Tiger doesn't play in it either, but the SHO has a bigger draw than the Zurich, despite a smaller purse.

i think some of it has to do with morial but the fact is the tournament is of no interest to him at any level. not a great course, not prestigious, not a good field, doesn't fit his schedule (he very rarely ever plays three tournaments in a row), etc. he will never come.

Because he loves every city except for New Orleans. What a dick.
