Think about this. If Tiger was Jack's age, there is a damn good chance Tiger never would have played golf due to the barriers faced because of being black......So think about that when you compare who had to compete against the best competition

You think it was easy for them? They were sneaking on courses as kids, playing in their yard, etc in order to people able to practice

If you were black and born in 1940, it was a fricking almost impossible road to try and play golf competitively. 1960 was when they first even allowed a black player on the pga tour. So if you grew up in the 40s as a black kid, you would have never thought you would even be allowed to play.

Idiotic statement. He’s mixed. If you’re basing it on skin color alone then look at Vijay Singh who came before Tiger.

Ahh gotcha. Black mixed people born in 1940 were totally treated the same in the world of golf. Good chance Tiger is thrown in a fricking camp actually So much better

Why are you laughing? Not much incentive to work your arse off as a kid to make a tour your arent even allowed to be a member of.....Also makes it difficult when most golf courses wont let you on...

There were black players on tour in the 60's, what are you arguing about? Not many, but then again, I doubt many black people played golf either.

One of my personal favorites growing up was Calvin Peete.

Yeh, not many black people played golf because there werent many courses that allowed them to play

I was showing easy proof as to how much weaker Jacks competition was with the simple idea that Tiger himself likely wouldnt have played in Jacks day.

Joe Louis had to play as an amateur in California in the 50s to be the first black player on the PGA.

If you were poor or middle class (regardless of color) and born in 1940, the nearest golf course was probably over 150 miles away and attached to a Country Club that your parents couldn't afford..

I wonder how long Joey LaCava, Tiger's caddie, is going to wait before looking for another player to work for?

Agreed, once again highlighting how much weaker the competition was

The barrier to entry for golf was FAR higher than it is today

People are laughing at you because you are sitting here giving your OPINION on what it was like to live as a colored person during a time in which you weren’t even fricking born yet.

Your biggest and most glaring personal issue is that you have wayyyy too much self worth, and you think everything you say is an absolute fact that can’t be disputed. That’s no way to go through life

So you think it wasnt harder for a colored person born in 1940 to become a pro golfer? I feel very confident in this "opinion" I hold

I never said that. You just feel that every single one of your opinions is infallible, and that’s just not the case. Not even necessarily talking about this specific thread or anything you’ve said here. It’s your overall attitude I’m referring to

I’m sure there are a ton of people here who agree with me

Please stay in this thread

Do you agree or disagree with the "opinion" it was extremely difficult for a black person born in 1940 to have the opportunity to become a pro golfer?

That isnt an "opinion", hence why it is infallible

Like I said twice already, I wasn’t even referring to this thread. And to be fair, neither you nor I know what it was like back then. How old were you in 1965?

Ok

So in a thread where you dont disagree you wanted to talk about other times you disagree

To be fair I also wasnt born in 1855. But I also have the "opinion", it was hard on black people as well
