People seem to struggle with what an EXEMPTION is. It’s for people that did not earn it

Nobody that misses an exemption earned shite

Lotta dumb in this thread

He isn’t taking anyone’s spot, if you earn your way in you are in. You don’t get bumped by an exemption.

Even when he's not playing well, he moves the needle more than any other player on the course. I've been to tournaments, and you can't deny it. You can have the world #1 golfer on the course, but the gallery is following Tiger.

He was what golf needed at the right time. Like Sosa and McGwire in baseball.

Heck, even John Daly drew viewers and a rowdy gallery. Arnold Palmer had Arnies army and such.

I liked the personalities of the golfers back in the day, today’s golfers are pretty bland.

I don't know how the PGA rules work, but does this imply that his "Special Exemption" that allows him to play bounces someone who has earned the right to play by actually playing and finishing rounds????

I understand your view. As a former professional baseball player, that's how I felt when Michael Jordan or Tim Tebow decided they wanted to try their hand at professional baseball. But those were more publicity stunts than anything else and they were done at the expense of other players for a full season - 4 seasons in the case of Tebow.

Do you think the guy that gets bounced will somebody that previously won the US Open 3 times? Do you realize how every player on the tour has benefitted from the massive increase in prize money over the past quarter century due to increased popularity of the sport? Do you know which individual is the unquestioned reason for that increase in popularity?

Tiger on the course was anything but bland in his prime. Plenty of people hated Tiger for it too (some still do)
