I ont know if it will happen this year but Im sure it will come in the next few years, Once they beat there drum enogh and get some big timebacking like more of ESPN and some congressmen. I just cant believe that they actually want to sue someone because they hired a white man over a black one. Crazy.

Turner Gill, IMO, has earned the opportunity to move up. There is no doubt he will get that opportunity and soon. I hope that he is patient and careful before he leaps. I think Croom is a good coach but he picked a tough place to prove it.

I agree, as far as Sly, he outcoached a few teams in his tenure, but couldn't get the big time recruits he thought he could.

I hate to be the fly in the ointment guys, because I agree with what many of you are saying. But it's a much bigger issue than a coaching hire or a lawsuit. You do realize that for generations blacks were excluded out of many elements of society, including sports, precisely because they were black. (And worse things were done to them as well.) And just so you know, I'm white, a bona fide dittohead, and a proud son of the south. And I take strong exception to quotas and racial preferences, but why are some of you so surprised? And where were the voices of outrage when it worked the other way?

Unfortunately there are many schemers out there, including some blacks, who will take advantage of all this not to "right a wrong" but rather to make a buck, or advance their own liberal agendas, or to "make whitey pay", and not just in the sports arena. And as long as the liberals and the Al Sharptons of the world are given charge of this debate, its not going to change.

It turns out King had it right after all:

"I look forward confidently to the day when all who work for a living will be one with no thought to their separateness as Negroes, Jews, Italians or any other distinctions...a dream of a land where men will not argue that the color of a man's skin determines the content of his character."

Have a great day and Geaux Tigers.

The liberals feeling sorry for the blacks, and those mentioning inequality every time a black isn't hired annoy the frick out of me. Hire the right person for the job, and if they aint black, so what. This bullshite has gone on way to long and is only going to get much worse with Osama Obama as presindent. Its the chicken-shite white people and the media that have given in to their demands and crying foul every time they dont get what they want that are to blame.

They don't. They use them.

Couldn't agree more.

That's what happens when you enslave generations of a people. Not saying all the demands are just, such as quotas, but its what you get.

edit: Old resentments die hard, look at the Middle East.

The fact is nothing will make these ppl happy. I am sick of the damn race card, cry me a fricking river. They now have one of there own in the most powerful position in the world and they are still bitching. If they want this fine, but lets make things equal everywhere. We will take the percentage of every race in society and put that amount in ever aspect of sports. So if the percentage of blacks are say 30% we will give them that amount in the coaching ranks. But the same hold true on the field. So some of these blacks will have to give up roster spots for whites, hispanics, etc, etc. Same goes for the NBA if 70% of the population is white then that same number must hold roster spots on NBA teams. We will just totally do away with qualifications and hand out jobs on racial population percentages.
