Nothing will ever top the GOAT 2007 season, but damn this has been a wild and entertaining season.

The quality of play and parity across the sport is as good as it’s been in a long time. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it

Any season where Alabama is out of the picture is an awesome season.

A couple upsets and just like 2007 we could see a 2 Loss National Champion too

I tend to agree. It's been good, but nothing special IMO

Your opinion is skewed due to Tulane & LSU doing well. The same 5-6 teams are still at the top minus Bama, this season isn’t even in the same stratosphere as the 2007 season.

transfer portal has ushered in a new era of competitiveness imo

teams can and will get better in a hurry

and to think that this offseason will be even crazier

No Oklahoma
No Clemson

Meanwhile you have:
TCU in the mix
Tennessee in the mix
USC / UCLA rivalry highly relevant this year.

You are mistaken.

Cool to see Tennessee and UCLA find success this year - been awhile since either has been relevant. Outside of that, CFB only feels "different" because Alabama is effectively eliminated from the CFP; still traditional powers (i.e. Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State) competing for a National Championship.

With two Louisiana teams up there, though, I can see how this season might feel better than others.

Agreed this year isn't close to 2007 but it has been fun due primarily to the regional parity.

Now we have TCU undefeated, Tennessee revitalized, Oregon and USC out west competing, and Michigan with a chance to knock off tOSU once again.

Clemson, OU, and Bama all out of the mix has been refreshing. Plus you have storylines like App St winning in College Station (obviously aTm's star has faded), Kansas starting the year 5-0, and freaking Tulane are 8-1.

Mizzou or Kent State holding on to beat Georgia would've put this year pretty close to 2007.

I think Michigan have a chance this year to shed that moniker that Clemson had for a long time before they finally won the big one. Remember the term "Clemsoning"? Each year they would beat up on powderpuffs, be highly ranked, and then get smoked when they played someone worth a damn or always seemed to slip up.

Michigan sort of feels like that right now. Highly ranked yet again and finally beat tOSU last year. If they win in Columbus and make it to the NCG, I think you'll start to see people across the country start to say, okay Michigan might actually be a contender. Right now we all know they're a solid team who have beaten who they should to this point but they need to clear that big-game hurdle to really re-establish themselves.

No Alabama, no Clemson, no Oklahoma. Those three have a combined total of 17 appearances out of a max of 24. Those 3 being effectively out is a big deal alone. UGA hasn't exactly been a mainstay either. This year would be their third appearance.

In the top 10 this week, we'll have most of TCU, Michigan, Tennessee, LSU, Oregon, USC, UCLA, and Ole Miss in there. None of that is the "same 5-6 teams" at the top as what we've usually seen in the CFP polls. The same 5-6 teams would be some combination of Alabama, Clemson, Ohio St, Oklahoma and 2 other schools. 3 of the 4 teams who make it the most are out.

And there have been a even more fresh faces in the top 25 this year like Kansas St, Tulane, Liberty, Illinois, etc.

That's the only reason people are re-energized and calling the season awesome.

A new birth of freedom.

But lets be honest, there have been tons of crappy weeks with crappy matchups.

LSU is the common denominator here! Two loss LSU, that is.

What were the first 8-9 weeks of 2007 like? I don’t remember. I remember it finished wild for sure.

Don’t get why people put uga up there with the others.

They’ve won one NC sine 1980 and played for one other.

Hell they have only won the conference once In 15 years
