If I'm up by two touchdowns and there is 5 minutes to go, you're damn right I'm using prevent. Correctly used, they'd bleed a ton of time.
Give up the 10 yard pass, rinse, repeat.

The Pro Bowl.
Also roughing the passer for minimal contact on the quarterback. I can understand when they get blasted, but the way it's called now is a joke.

MOTHER FRICKIN THIS!!!!!!!
Chris Collinsworth(less): "You can see right here, the Defensive Tackle jumped up to try and swat the ball down and on the way down smacks Tom Brady on the helmet and draws an easy 15 yarder. You just can't do that in todays game."
Stupidest shite...

Agreed, I think baseball has this right.

Playing more of a sport has eroded fundamentals? How does that make any sense?
by not ever teaching or stressing fundamentals and team play.
AAU ball may as well be a glorified pick up game in most instances. You MAY gain some ability in individual one on one play but you aren't gong to become much of a team player or learn much defense with the way things are currently run.

That seems like a coaching problem.

Theres been a ton of articles that show how bad AAU ball is for basketball.

uhh no. college should go to 4 quarters and the 24 second shot clock. also, ban AAU ball
There would be less competitive balance in basketball if the shot clock was shortened to 24.
Many teams make a living out of using the 35 second clock, and its not just unathletic teams like Princeton either. Pittsburgh is a team that always ranks near the bottom of the nation in tempo, as does Florida and Wisconsin.
It needs to stay at 35 because not all teams are built like North Carolina who can run up and down the court.

They're practicing slam dunks and how to pass to ball to yourself off the backboard.

Select baseball is even worse.
Select baseball prices out many players, as there are a ton of talented players who can not afford it, or have the means to get to and from practice, etc.
This is partially why the number of blacks have declined in baseball, the focus on select ball means that blacks can not play in select leagues if their parents can't afford it.
Plus a lot of select players are just there not because of their ability, but because they know the coach or know someone. It's all political now.
It's funny because all the kids who played select ball at my high school never even played in college, and the one kid at my high school who did go on to play college ball never played select ball in his life because his parents couldn't afford it.
Parents who think that their kid is actually going to get better playing select ball are morons. The level of competition at young ages doesn't matter, its about enjoying the game and learning fundamentals. What good is playing against good competition if your kid doesn't enjoy it or doesn't have the fundamentals down? You either have talent or you don't, playing against "good competition" means nothing.
I taught baseball lessons at a minor league field and I'd give lessons to 8 year olds and their parents would be asking for a good select team to play for. I told them don't do it, they are too young, but they said "How will he get better if he is playing against bad competition in rec leagues?" and I said until you get to the age of 16 or so, it doesn't matter.
Select leagues cause kids to hate baseball before they get to high school since it becomes their life rather than a fun game to play for a few months.

Agreed. The other aggravating thing is how inconsistently penalties are applied during the season. Defenseless receiver hits, pass interference and roughing the qb; it's like they are making up new rules as the season goes along.

In the NFL they need to put an end to the pre-meditated celebrations for making a play that one gets paid to make. And for goodness sake, those pregame dances need to go.
The illegal defense in the NBA along with what was already posted about walking, no calls of fouls, etc. Personally, I think the shot clock is too short...give them more time to set up a play and move the ball. It would make for more team play and not just one on one.
I agree the DH should go in MLB. It was ridiculous to se Jack Morris get the MVP of the World Series in '91 and never going to the plate.
