Babe Ruth's 1919 Season, which was left off this list from 2018.

I'd argue that 1919 Season was better than his 1918 because he had so much more offensive production. That's the one that's the gold standard for hitting and pitching, at least for now...

Ruth (1918) - .300 AVG., 11 HR, 61 RBI, 50 R, 6 SB, .966 OPS
13-7, 2.22 ERA, 40 SO, 1.046 WHIP, 166.1 IP

Ruth (1919) - .322 AVG., 29 HR, 113 RBI, 103 R, 7 SB 1.114 OPS
9-5, 2.97 ERA, 30 SO, 1.545 WHIP, 133.1 IP

Ohtani (2021) - .269 AVG., 15 HR, 38 RBI, 33 R, 6 SB .958 OPS
1-0, 2.37 ERA, 45 SO, 1.253 WHIP, 30.1 IP

That's the exact grip tape weave pattern I had on my old Adirondak bat, first aluminum we had when I was in high school. We used wooden bats up until my Freshman year when the aluminum bats were available. Preferred wood over the original aluminums. The first Easton I had was like a pipe. When my son started playing T-ball his bat had more pop than those original aluminums.

First two aluminum bats I had, Adirondack first then later that model Easton. Both were garbage by today's standard

Ted Williams' book The Science of Hitting. I learned more about hitting from that book than all the years of coaching I got.

We used them on the bases. Batted with a regular helmet, then if we reached base, we took off the batting helmet and put those on over our caps.

In 1899, the Cardinals were called the St Louis Perfectos. The Perfectos owner also owned the Cleveland Spiders. He moved all the Spiders good players to St Louis. The fans hated the perfectos name so he changed it the next year to the Cardinals (the perfectos wore cardinal red jerseys). The Spiders went 20-134 (84 games back) that way while the Perfectos finished 18 games back after going 84-67.

the more you know!

Frankly, I'm glad that is in baseball's past:

-- French speaking baseball is a travesty.
-- That stupid, fugly logo was a travesty.
-- The ballpark was a travesty.
-- The name "Expos" was a stupid nickname, and a travesty.
-- Those multicolor clown caps were a travesty.

The bleacher creatures would come down off the stairs to get homers. Candlestick was also Turf

The plexiglass fence at Fulton County and at OKC was awesome as well
