Public schools are desperate for anybody
Would you work/teach at a public school for 60k a year?

Literally no one wants to work at a public school.
You pretty much have to hate yourself to take a job there at this point.

What? most of the schools in this nation are public with a lot of those students wanting to be teachers when they enter the work force.

Meh, lots of great country schools. Get out of any city or even midsize town. Teach at the podunk schools with ag programs and you’ll still yes sir, no sir, yes maam, no maam.

Maybe the skill sets aren’t suited for air raid like they were last year?

"Lots of those wanting to be teachers"? As the risk manager at a 100 school school system I can speak to this with some authority: In meeting regularly with staffs at the schools, on a regular basis, yes, many start off with that feeling. But, on the average, it takes 2 years of the public school experience for their burn out to start to kick in. When they get their RM lecture on their rights to defend themselves in a classroom fight starts with a fist inches from their faces to learning that they have to spend more & more of their own money on basic classroom material....such as an ABC - type safety kit, most don't enter their 3rd year without starting to look for other work.

I feel like a broken record posting these things, but the current system simply isn’t sustainable. I’m at a decent public school, and outside of the small percentage of students who will do their best under almost any circumstances, teaching these kids has become a miserable experience. I’ve never seen such apathy concerning academics, and they have no problem at all telling you that they don’t care. Discipline is impossible when there is no consequence available that affects their behavior at all. Many students see themselves as peers to their teachers now (thanks parents), and they will give you attitude and disrespect at every turn. I’m in my third year of DROP and can’t wait for the year to end. We don’t feel like we’re accomplishing anything anymore.

Actually privates are not far behind (with a few very notable exceptions). Private school enrollment (again with a few notable exceptions) has been declining nationwide for 30 years and a growing trend of privates treating parents like customers has made life there miserable too
