re: There’s a chance the committee got it right

Ohio State was better off losing to Michigan than winning and playing Oregon a second time a week later then having to potentially play Oregon 3 times with CFP game. Lost, took time off to regroup, prepare, and answer. Now a rematch with Oregon with momentum.

Homefield advantage has become insane with college football. All playoff games should be at bowls
Fuuuck that. We already have too many spots. The last thing we need is prop up the undeserving teams even more.

I was told their dline is dominant and tOSU had a MASH unit at OL

Parity, that’s what we are seeing in college football right now.

2) Once the field is set with the remaining teams by the committee, the teams should then be seeded by strength of schedule (conference champions should not necessarily receive an automatic bye)
This would be a mess. Not only would Oregon not get a bye this year, they'd likely be on the road in the 1st round. The same would have happened to last year's Michigan team.
SOS isn't irrelevant, but it gets way more focus than it should in this era of super conferences. You don't even face half the teams in your league. Out of conference schedules are determined years in advance. It's too much of a crapshoot for playoff seeding to hinge on it.

Then the committee needs another criteria to avoid giving teams like Arizona St and Boise St bye weeks.
I love the 12 team format, but the current seeding system is massively flawed and needs to be changed immediately.
The weaker conferences can't just continue to get automatic byes while the conferences with the higher level of play get shafted.
Maybe don't go letter of the law with SOS rankings, but it does need to be considered.

Not rewarding for earned top ranked teams, nor financially feasible for fanbases that need to finance all that playoff run travel, nor scheduling chronologically logical, especially once go to 16 teams, etc..
The cream will always rise to the top anyways.
Linemakers next year will have those 7 and 8.5 Dogs that lack any notable Ws on the year, priced at 10 to 12 to 13.5 on their Number Openings..increased HFV.

I much rather teams like Indiana and SMU and Tennessee getting blown out so they can shut the frick up about how “they didn’t get a chance after going 11-1 or 10-2” like the UCFs and Boises, etc have done in years past.
This is much better than hearing UCF or Boise or whoever fans screaming “what if” after they beat some team in a NYD bowl game that didn’t even want to be there.

They should just do a SEC tournament just like they do in basketball and crown whoever wins the FBS champion.
