I think you've missed the whole "know your place" meaning of his post.

Why the frick is this dumbass thread still going?

Because something needs to be done about this illegal injustice of athletic branding. People need to write and call their representatives and senators. They need to demand that John Bel Edwards take care of this crime.

Why is this thread still going? Dude melted hard over something that's really not that big of a deal.

They should get with the folks up in S. Arky: Ruston has been working on a huge lawsuit to fix this outrageous breaking of laws for many years now.

While I believe this thread should be anchored, you just reminded me of that one LaTech die-hard that traveled down to our campus years ago and took pictures of every instance where "Lafayette" was missing from signage around campus. Good times.

Even better: there is another ruston idiot that took a pic of the "UL" shrubs in the CF NEZ, and then sent it to UL System prez, via twitter. The prez (a Northwest alumn) responded with a very wry, sarcastic "oh, that has been grandfathered ins since it was done in 1984," or somehting like that. I don't do the twitter thing, but maybe someone who does can find it. It was the perfect adult response to the childish antics around this whole issue.

And also, a few years back there was a thread on the ruston board about some little fellas there that were going to take care of this. They sent a letter to the previous US System prez, and she responded that there is absoultely nothing wrong (let alone 'illegal') about using "louisiana" as a stand-alone reference. I mean, you would think that when not one, but two UL Presidents tell you how wrong you are, you'd back off. But it has not stopped some of these buffons.

People will go to great lengths to go on their little investigations to find such fraud being committed.

Crab pot mentality. Only two of the G5 programs in the state have legit chances to be a Boise or UCF type program. We are one and Tulane is the other.

The Louisiana Ragin cajuns finally have the right people in place to start getting things done. It’s already started and people are losing their minds.

Example: I went to a UL(L)/McNeese baseball game in LC once and there were tons of their fans in LSU clothing there. We usually don’t have that at our games.

I can see why that would be annoying.

I disagree. I think the two are Louisiana and Louisiana Tech. Tulane is proved they do not care about athletics yet they somehow ended up in the best G5 league only because of their TV market. I think UL and Tech being in the American over Tulane would add way more viewers than Tulane already does. Nobody gives a shite about Tulane sports. They’re a joke.

Tech and UL have way better fans.

Give me an honest response. Have you actually ever seen the facilities that UL Lafayette has upgraded in the past 5 years or do you just see them as the same old bottom dweller sun belt team they historically are? They are certainly on par with schools in the American Conference. I’ve seen Tulane’s and Tech’s facilities and I honestly believe the ones in Lafayette are better.

LA Tech’s new stadium upgrades are great. Besides that UL has nicer facilities. The baseball stadium and Cajun dome are way nicer than what Tech or Tulane has.

Most people in this state live in a bubble. They can’t see beyond the trees.

Reading through this thread I'm pretty sure his response was targeted at the chewy guy that said Tech didn't have the chance to be a Boise level program. I'd say as they sit now Tech, UL(L), then Tulane. Tech is on a nice run over the last six or seven years with Bowls and draft picks. UL(L) looks to be on the upswing after a quick dip last year. Tulane is only in the conversation because their conference affiliation gives them a chance if they can have an up year when the rest of their conference is down just because of the optics the AAC has garnered. UL(M) is second fiddle as far as G5's are concerned in North LA and third behind LSU and Tech up there across the board even with Viator who I think is the second best coach in the state behind Napier I don't know that they can have sustained success. 6-7 wins might be their ceiling, while Tech, UL(L), or Tulane could all win 9-10 next year and I don't think too many would be that surprised.

I'm an alum, I know exactly what their facilities are. I also know that the admin has been steadily increasing support for football. But Tech has more winning tradition, easier recruiting, and attracts better coaches. They also play in a better conference.

The perception of C-USA is better, even though competition has equaled out. The Sun Belt is in a spot like the SEC was in 2004. Poised to prove it's better, but needs a few more years of demonstrative wins. Time will tell.
