Hey, that's a great idea.....oh wait, they already did when USL legally changed their name to UL in 1980 and was sued by LaSU with the judge being an LaSU alumni. Hence, you can change your name to the Univ. of LA as long as there is at least one other school in the state that does so and there is a designation location attached to the end. How stupid is that?

yeah, but people now UNC is the premiere academic and athletic public supported institution in the state. Same with Texas.

I know. I wish ULM would grow some balls and brand themselves Louisiana Warhawks or whatever they are called. They should put Louisiana on the front of their jerseys and demand media outlets call them Louisiana. The melt from Lafayette would be awesome and ULL would know how foolish they look with their Louisiana Cajuns making.

Comparing the state of Louisiana higher education to that of North Carolina and Texas is a joke in its own. You realize Louisiana is more on par with Mississippi and Arkansas than it is with Texas and North Carolina? UL-Lafayette is definitely academically on par with Ole Miss maybe not The U of Arkansas though. The gap between LSU and UL academically isn’t as large as you people think. It’s hilarious when y’all try to feel to superior as scholars and get so butt hurt about branding as Louisiana.

Starting next year, the ACT admission requirements will actually be lower than that of UL(L).
I don’t know what’s more humorous: the paranoia about our name or LSU fans trying to act superior with academic prestige when a good number didn’t even attend there

UL people don’t realize they run off a big chunk of their alumni when they force them to choose a side in this whole debacle. I don’t choose sides. I love LSU sports and UL is my Alma mater so they get my support for academic matters and overall university growth. LSU is the reason I came to La and I ended up getting my bachelors from UL. So I do not really follow UL sports like I do LSU but I understand that branding matters. If they ever get to UCF/Boise State status in the G5 world, the whole country would be calling them Louisiana and that would be the ceiling. It’s still a good ceiling though.

Cajun fans usually don’t cater to anyone else like other in-State schools do. It’s the same reason why this thread was probably started in the first place.

They don’t have to cater to anyone else. Their over the top hate just makes people uncomfortable. They can love UL and do their own thing without hating the other schools so hard. What do you mean by other schools cater? Elaborate on that

Example: I went to a UL(L)/McNeese baseball game in LC once and there were tons of their fans in LSU clothing there. We usually don’t have that at our games.
As far as the “hate,” it’s a point proven that we don’t cater to them. Like I mentioned, when topics like this thread is brought up, we counter back. Outside of maybe Tech and Tulane, I don’t see fans from other in-State schools doing the same. The reason why it’s uncomfortable to some people is the fact that people here aren’t used to seeing others’ number 1 loyalty not be LSU.

I really don’t give ULL any thought unless LSU is playing them. I thought the NIT game was fun especially with the back and forth between Will and Bob Marlin Wade’s postgame was a lesson
