This one is setting up for him, hoping to see him get another.

Seems inevitable now that Roger will take back the #1 ranking, becoming the oldest player by a long shot to do it.

That alone is a reason to play some of the clay court season. He has no points to defend, while Rafa has tons. He could maybe even take it back before then.

I know y'all might say the #1 ranking doesn't really mean much to him at this point, but I think it does. Especially to be the year end #1 at 37 years old.

What would you guys put the odds at of us seeing another major semifinal with all of the Big Four?

20%?

i would book that bet at 5-1 any day of the week

it's probably less than 5%

So is Rafa really hurt or did he feel like he was going to lose anyway?

He was hurt in the fourth. I think after he lost the fourth set and go treatment, he wanted to test the waters on his serve, when that went badly, he knew it was time to throw in the towel. Hate to see this AO end like this for him. I'm a Fed guy first, but Rafa isn't far behind in my book.

Now as much as I want to see Roger get to #20, I would love to see Tennys Sandgren pull off the improbable and win this thing.

When Fed was Nadals age now (31), he was having to compete against a 26 year old Nadal, yet midnightvibe and Nadaltards thought that was a fair comparison.......

Yep, and with most of those matches on clay to boot.

This same exact thing was said about Nadal 5 years ago, and he's currently #1 in the world. The oldest guy ever to reach #1, in fact.

You can't underestimate modern medicine/training, performance enhancers, hyperbaric chambers, blood doping, etc

Roger was 31 in August 2012 while he was briefly #1. But Nadal's current #1 streak has him ahead by a few months.

I hope Federer wins. I don't really want any of these other dudes winning lol

Maybe Berdych. I hope the winner of that quarterfinal match wins the tournament.

ETA: Obviously I would want Tennys to win too, but I don't think that's realistic. He's the longest shot by far at this point.

Tennys

This guy needs a social media coach. If he gains more fame he's gonna get burned with some of the stuff he posts.

Which is why Fed needs a few more majors. Nadal can still win french's and now U.S. Open's with those slow courts at an older age.

Isn't Rafa 1000 points ahead of Fed and not really defending any points until Clay season? I am not sure though.

He is defending 2,000 in Melbourne and another 1,000 each in Indian Wells and Miami. I don't see how he catches up with Rafa, unless he makes up ground in the clay season, which is unlikely.

I was talking about Rafa not defending. I knew Fed was defending some but will be in same boat as Rafa after Wimbledon.

Is Madison's match on TV or just watchESPN?

It's on Tennis Channel. Kerber just pounded her 6-1 in the first. I'm surprised they don't have a doubles match in the early slot, but they must be running all of the chicks out again tomorrow and need these women to get their matches completed early.

Hopefully Kerber finishes her off so we can get to Tennys right at 8
