great comment. Tom Watson said when he first played over the pond and on links coursss he got too mad and blamed the course for bad breaks, but once he realized he needed to change his attitude and embrace a different style and mindset, he won 5 opens

That is true. It also cost him the open 2 years ago. I also heard on the golf channel that if you polled players across golf they would tell you this is their least favorite open course.

I want to see pro's stick approach shots to 5 feet not hit a running shot that may end up 15 feet from the hole.

And you get that 30+ weeks a year. Just not during the Opens.

Andy Smith...qualified with a borrowed set of irons...

Some of you guys have your facts wrong. The kid that qualified with borrowed clubs, was given money to try and qualify, then has to stay at home instead of a nearby hotel was Andy Smith, as Golfer commented on earlier. Not Tom Lewis.

Anybody know the time difference from England to here? Trying to judge tee times and when some groups will be on TV...

5 hours? 6? Something like that huh?

6 hours from Central Daylight Time.

Or you can look here, where they list the tee times by Eastern Time.

A links course is more traditional. It relies heavily on sandtraps, hills, and wind to punish you. You don't typically see many trees on a links course.

How is the wind currently, and how was it for the morning groups? I didn't have time to watch before work unfortunately

Been watching since 6, definitely windy as expected but nothing too drastic. Hopefully it stays somewhat in check and we see some low numbers as the day progresses
