@AllieFontana: They like him, they really like him! #Vikings win the Matt Cassel sweepstakes. Contract details TBA. #freeagency #NFL

Saints signed CB Keenan Lewis to a five-year, $26 million contract with $11 million guaranteed.
Lewis, 27 in May, really came on as a 16-game starter in Dick LeBeau's Steelers defense last year, recording 71 tackles and a league-high 23 pass breakups. His ball skills (one career INT) leave a lot to be desired, but 6-foot, 208-pound Lewis could be a poor man's Brandon Carr under Rob Ryan. He's big, effective in zone, physical enough to play press man, and can move around. Expect Patrick Robinson to be demoted as Lewis starts opposite Jabari Greer.

I don't think Nnamdi is in the running for the Saints anymore with Lewis signing and limited amount of money.

he's not in tampa yet, but you're probably right

With Lewis hardly costing anything (1 million base salary for 2013), the Saints aren't done.

Eagles announce contracts with S Kenny Phillips and CB Cary Williams.
Interesting. I like it. Eagles overhauling the secondary. Much needed. These guys have to be an improvement over what we had... even with spotty injury history.

Those signings are definitely an upgrade. Hopefully Phillips can stay healthy.

and he also turned down a bigger offer from an unknown team. Signed for good price and he obviously wants to be in New Orleans. I like it.
with all of the safeties out there, I'd sure like to see us bring in somebody. Maybe Kerry Rhodes?
I just can't believe that 11 starting safeties have been cut so far and both of our incumbents aren't in that same boat. I know you can't just go around cutting people just for the hell of it but maybe something happens with Harper after June 1st...

Yes, he's very good when healthy.

I think he's trying to leverage more money from GB.

Lewis is a good pickup for the Saints

Yeah Saints aren't done. I just don't see how we afford Nnamdi. Anything is possible I guess.
Posted on 3/14/13 at 4:21 pm to Brageous
Do Saints fans want Nnamdi? Jw
Posted on 3/14/13 at 4:23 pm to Na Mean
Connor Barwin close to a deal with the Eagles. Texans retain none of their free agents.

Well according to most, he does well in Rob's style of defense. For the right price, sure.

I wouldn't have been thrilled had we got him. But one reason our corners struggled so bad last year is because they sucked at playing zone. Spags liked to use zone where as GW liked to use a man-to-man.
I hate to make excuses but I think that is worth mentioning. Nnamdi would probably do okay in Rob Ryan's defense. But he's 31 and he would have wanted more money...

Do okay? He made three pro-bowls in Ryan's system while in Oakland. I think he would do better than okay,

Agree. Probably only 3-4 more quality years.
