Sorry I'm late to the thread. I was busy.

I'll sum up my opinions:

-Rory isn't going to give this tourny away
-Phil isn't his normal Augusta self
-What a fricking round by Day
-Those 3 kids are the future of golf and they are fun to watch. Kind of like a young Tiger. Full of life and emotion.
-IMO Ricky Barnes is going to win or be in the final group
-Not sure what Tiger is thinking about playing with KJ tomorrow after last years 4 rounds
-Good day by Toms. Hope he keeps it up
-I really want Toms or Couples to pull it out, but it aint happnin capin.

He won't, it just might be taken away.

I tend to agree, but remember, he shot 80 at St. Andrews with the lead last year. Let's see if he really has learned from that.

+1...Couples has a chance, but I don't see him winning a shootout with these kids. It's amazing that he continues to put himself in this position year after year here.

Great round, and definitely looked like the Tiger of old on the second 9. Keep in mind that he also played 27 other holes in which he looked quite ordinary. Which Tiger comes out tomorrow will go a long way in determining who wins.

He shot 77, 76 in 2005

I think he'd probably have a hard time reaching a few par 5's in three and maybe some par 4's in two.

Jack can still reach the 5 pars in 3. Its those long 4 pars that wore Gary Player out the last couple of years he played.

I would put money on Jack easily breaking 90, but 80 may not be achieveable. That, is likely, why he hung it up.

I agree that was not a good round but the average score that day for the field was 75.

Whatever the average score is tomorrow at Augusta, McIlroy has to do better than 5 strokes worse, or he'll be lapped tomorrow.

I do not know about lapped but I see what you are saying. Just pointing out that an 80 at a regular tour event could be as much as 10 or 11 shots higher than the average score. Rory's 80 was bad but not that bad ..

He would get passed up by a few people but still be in striking distance with a great round on Sunday even with a 76 tomorrow.

What do you think the winning score will be

I picked -13 at the beginning of the week. If they don't get any rain, I'd probably back off to -11. 76 tomorrow for Rory would mean he'd need 65 or 66 on Sunday.

I am pretty much right there with you ... I am thinking it won't get lower than 15 or any higher than 13.

Which would be a great round but is doable as he has already proved.

Rory is not shooting a 76 tomorrow. I've never seen him look this in control.

BTW, Caterpillar, I layed down $10 (60:1) on Barnes to win it all solely on your opinion.

Not really. Its just great to see him play to his Golf like he knows how. I am very critical of him, but today he showed a certain spark. And at the press conference, he said "this will be fun". Bad news for the rest of the field.

he's never seen himself look this in control. of course, tomorrow's round will be purely mental. I hope he overcomes the headiness.
