The number of games played should matter...

The SEC, the ACC, and the Big 12 were all able to have complete seasons for the most part. The two participants in the Pac-12 Championship Game (USC and Washington) will be a combined 8-1 when they meet on the field next weekend while the B1G Championship Game match-up will feature two teams with a combined record of 11-1. In contrast, the combined record of the SEC Championship Game participants is 18-2, the combined record of the ACC Championship Game participants is 19-1, and the combined record for the Big 12 Championship Game participants is 15-4.
Florida playing that extra game last night (a game that could have been canceled since it was delayed once before) cost them a shot at a national championship. Had that game not been played, Florida goes into the SEC Championship Game with one loss and a #5 or #6 ranking in the College Football Playoffs. Beat Alabama and they're in. Meanwhile, Ohio State gets to waltz into the College Football Playoff with a 6-0 record if they beat Northwestern next weekend. Notre Dame still has to play Clemson (a team they already beat) in a re-match to remain undefeated and guaranteed of a playoff spot. Alabama played through a full schedule and still has one game left to go against a desperate Florida team. Not only that, but Alabama has lost two of its best players (Jaylen Waddle and Christian Harris) along the way.
Why should Ohio State be rewarded with a playoff berth after only playing six games? Because they're one of the best four teams? Where is the proof? What's their résumé? I just find it totally unfair for teams that have played full seasons, and experienced the wear and tear associated with that season, while Ohio State will have only played half a season (based on a normal 12-game schedule) without experiencing hardly any adversity or wear and tear. Teams facing off against them in the playoffs will be at a disadvantage due to how fresh they are and how little film they have to prepare for them compared to other teams.

Bama had to play Arkansas yesterday why should Florida have a bye. All I heard last week was how Florida would curbstomp us. Oh well

So a team should be rewarded for going 12-1 in a major conference vs one that goes 11-1, right Bama?

Context matters. If that 11-1 team lost to the #1 team in college football by three in overtime, while that 12-1 team lost to an unranked team that finished with a losing record, then no. That 12-1 team should NOT be rewarded.

I disagree. Undefeated G5 teams that played at least 10 games should be eligible as well.
Cincinnati and Coastal Carolina aren’t exactly scrub programs. Coastal beat App St, ULL, and BYU this year, and has to play ULL again for the conference championship.
I’m not confident Ohio State could beat ULL once, let alone twice.

Ranking a team based on their program’s history is straight up laughable and fraudulent.
The priority of the CFP is obviously a ploy to rake in $$$ rather than get the top teams, especially this season.

Eh, this year finally makes up for the SEC only playing 9 conference games in normal years while conveniently plopping in FCS teams or bye weeks right before rivalry games.

Not sure why you would care. Bama is in the drivers seat. I’d be happy to settle it on the field whoever the committee picks

Bama fans whining about teams playing fewer games is the best thing to come from this season.
Don't be afraid of Ohio State. I think y'all can beat them this time. Zeke isn't coming back and Justin Fields came to play school.

Alabama will beat the dog frick out of Ohio and Florida. But Ohio will not be 4 seed they will be 3 seed. Notre dame will be 4 should they lose to Clemson and should they beat Clemson Ohio will be 3 seed

Very serious. Have you watched UL this year? They’re absolutely a legit team. They beat the tar out of the best Big 12 team in week one.

So you’re saying that the CFP has frequently left the best teams out?

All this year has done is expose the system that really has always been made up tales as we go along. Ever since college started voting for national champions, the sport has been flawed. There’s no uniform model for games played, no requirements for in conference vs out of conference games, and conferences do not even have to have a championship game. It’s all subjective fable based on feelings. If college football ever wants to get beyond that they’ll need uniformity across the board. I mean it’s an NCAA sport without an official champion...what the hell is that about?
