It's up there. Frankly, Cal Ripken's 2632 consecutive games played, Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak, Tiger Woods's 142 consecutive cuts made, and even Wilt Chamberlain's 100 points in a single game, all seem even more daunting.

Didn’t say that or even imply it. But you are okay thinking what you want.

These numbers say as much about Jack as they do about the fields he competed against.

Didn’t Jack face off against some of the best of all time?

I mean, between his first and last major, there were some REALLY big names that also won multiple majors:

Arnold Palmer - 3
Gary Player - 7
Lee Trevino - 6
Tom Watson - 7
Raymond Floyd - 4
Seve Ballesteros - 4
Hale Irwin - 2
Dave Stockton - 2
Fuzzy Zoeller - 2
Julius Boros - 2
Andy North - 2

Tigers list is impressive as well.

The reality is, it is hard to compare them.

I will leave it at this...

Jack is the most accomplished golfer of all time.

The best, who knows. Tied?

Nope......never.

As good as Tiger was, he fell way short.

You missed somebody or two.....regardless, Tiger didn't face that competition in early 2000's....outside of Mickleson, who? Els? Singh?

I think that because a golf career is so long, someone will do it one day. There are guys who have that hot streak when they are young like Spieth, Rory, or Koepka, but they just do not sustain it. Someone eventually will.

Dudes you mentioned were past Tiger's prime....no doubt Tiger changed the game, but Arnie and Nicklaus did too.

Y'all realize Penzoil is popular because of Arnie?

Sponsors helped w/ those two legends...grew the game bigtime.

It will, in the pantheon of “untouchable” sports records, it’s not crazy. We already saw a generational talent who would have blown past it if not for Injuries and extra curricular activities…

And all the arguments “players make too much money”, “it’s too competitive” we’re all arguments people made in the 90’s too

That's my point. I don't know if anyone will ever match the pace of Tiger to get to 14. But, they can make up for that without the 11 year gap between majors in their 30's and 40's.

While the talent has increased and separation between 1-100 decreased, new technology and science should allow for longer “prime” athletic periods.

All records break.

Golf careers were a lot longer in Jack's day. Gary Player went twenty years between his first and last major. Nicklaus went twenty four years between his first and last major. Woods went twenty two but he is probably going to be the last to go twenty plus years winning majors. During Jack's day not only did he win majors in his 40s but so did Player, Trevino, Boros, Irwin, O'Meara, Floyd, Crenshaw, and Kite just off of the top of my head. Other than Tiger and Phil who has won a major in their 40s in the last decade or two? It used to be golfers were in the prime of their career when they were in their 30s. Now they are in the prime of their career in their 20s and are lucky if they have anything in their tank after they reach 35 or so. No one is getting close to 18 with the way golf is trending now. Hell, no one may get to 8 with the way the game has changed.

Jack is the Goat for golf. But just for clarification, Tiger was going to break all his records before he tanked his career. To me you can’t even make an argument for Tiger to be the goat because the reality is he did tank his career………..but its worth mentioning in these discussions.

For every reason you gave to your point you immediately contradicted it.

It seems daunting but ever is a very long time. Someday there probably will come along another Jack/Tiger caliber player but there is no way to know how long it will be before that happens
