Nah. Augusta is, has, and always will be about putting.
Spieth couldnt hit a driver or iron to save his life last year, and that flat stick almost won him the green jacket
Well as wet as the course is probably going to be this year it's going to be a massive advantage to hit the ball long. Guys like Rory will be having wedges into greens that other players will be hitting 7 irons.

Maybe one of you guys can tell me if there's a Masters app on my Smart TV

Thanks. It's supposed to offer 4K streaming but I can't seem to find it.

The last two times that the course was wet, Zach Johnson and Mike Wier won. Being wet gives the short guys a fighting chance at Augusta.

Well that was also before guys could hit the ball as far as they can now. It just makes it tougher for the guys who don't bomb the ball to get there. Rory can freaking bomb the ball.

Didn't ZJ win it in 2007? I wouldn't say people weren't bombing it like Rory back then. Hell, Rory has been on tour for 10 years now.

The whole "wet course favors the long hitters" thing is a fallacy.
The greens being more receptive is why guys like Johnson and Weir were able to win. They don't care if they only get 260-270 off the tee as long as their 3-5 iron in to the green will hold. Their long iron game is just as accurate as the bombers 6-8 irons and their putting is better, so as long as the greens are receptive they have a great shot at winning.

It's different at Augusta. It's that the ball doesn't run out as much off the tee. Meaning that the long hitters can't reach some slopes that they ordinary can on a dry Augusta (and the shorter hitters never can). That can cost them up to an extra 75 yards on some holes.
That is why you always hear that long hitters have such of an advantage at Augusta. If a guy is say 35 yards longer on average than a short hitter, he will be able to catch some slopes that the short hitter can't reach and then become 100 yards longer than the short hitter.
When it's wet that extra advantage really doesn't exist.

Maybe we can all agree that I'm a strong man. And, that I'll meet you at Sonic if you have a problem with that.

Damn, the weather looks shitty for Monday.

Yeah, Rory really struggles on wet courses
But I will agree that overall you are correct. I don't remember Zach Johnson's year being wet conditions, more cold and windy. I think Bubba won in 2012 with wet conditions.

Being wet gives the short guys a fighting chance at Augusta.
The long guys hit fairways and most of them can putt. This ain't your mom's PGA tour.

lets be real, its about ball striking. these greens have so many tiers that even if you hit the green but in the wrong place you're struggling to two putt

I think that mattered 10 years ago, when no one could go for the greens in two without rollout besides Tiger. But some of these guys absolutely murder the ball and will have no problem still reaching some of those greens in 2.
And on the par 4s, the short guys are still at a disadvantage, especially now that the course has been lengthened. Augusta will be wet, but it's probably not going to be like some other courses where you can stick a 4 iron because the greens are so soft.
