Liked the quote about MJ giving it his all every single game. There was no night off, or load management BS.

including that Pippen is the most overrated ever
If you think Pippen is the most overrated player ever, then almost by default, you'd have to think MJ is the GOAT I'd guess.
But oddly, WCA I think later on said he thought Pippen was around top 30 all time which wouldn't make much sense to me because if one thinks he's top 30 and the most overrated player ever, that would mean the masses would have to have him top 10-20, and I'm guessing the amount of people putting Pippen in their top 10-20 is few and far between.

It's like the story of Kobe going all out in the All Star game. "Not trying to win" wasn't something they had in them.

I don't really agree with this. It was the end of the run, regardless of Krause. Rodman never played more than 24 games in a season again.
Jackson's quoted as saying teams tune coaches out after a while. Krause certainly didn't help anything by alienating everybody, but it was probably happening regardless.

Absolutely. And if you think MJ is the GOAT (which I do), you can think that and also acknowledge that Pippen was a great player in his own right and worthy of more praise. He was the best defender of his generation and a great teammate to play Robin for MJ

This documentary is re-enforcing the fact that Mike is the GOAT to me.
Some of the greatest players and coaches in the history of the sport saw things in him before he became a global phenomenon and knew he was the greatest ever.

I haven't got to watch it yet. Is Buzz "Jordan's roommate" Peterson on the documentary?
Posted on 4/20/20 at 10:06 am to Buckeye06
Just watched the first episode. Man...I'm not even that big of a fan of basketball but holy crap what an excellently produced documentary. About to start watching episode two. ESPN and Netflix really know how to deliver on content.

Yep, Buzz was on there when they talked about MJs college career.

I grew up in Chicagoland...was a sophomore in HS when we one our first chip. Consider myself very lucky to have grown up watching Jordan in the 80s and 90s. Dad was a fan so I can remember watching early Jordan in the mid-80s.
This documentary, just through 2 episodes, is INCREDIBLY well done. I was hyped to see this but just assumed it would be a letdown because my expectations were so high. I think I had a perma-grin on my face for 2 hours. Dope soundtrack. High-level enough to introduce younger fans to the era but low-level enough that even die-hard fans learned some things they didn't know. Awesome footage. Just an absolute pleasure to watch.
Also, I hate Facebook but props to their trivia questions regarding accomplishments leaving LeBronze completely off every answer, helping to set MJ's GOAT status in stone.

Most everyone on that team played like 3 more seasons. No one had their peak afterward. It was the right time.
Would people have felt better if we saw them lose before they were broken up? They wouldn't have the same mystique.

Likely the right time to break it up and rebuild, but Krause could not have handled it worse.

He had no leadership/communication skills whatsoever. I think that was more of his problem than just being this maniacal sociopath hellbent on gaining personal fame and recognition. Usually those really quiet background people don’t want attention.

He could've handled things better. Maybe you don't go out and say that you listen to all offers for a player, but his rationale was sound. You should listen to all offers for a player. Pippen was leaving anyway, you try to get something for him. Nowadays GMs don't say that publicly because these players have egos that can be easily bruised by how they're perceived publicly.
He could've shown more self-awareness, but that was his flaw. He wasn't a people person. But MJ and Pippen could've also treated the guy with more respect. The two factors played hand in hand. They all deserve culpability.

I tend to think he shared a fairly common flaw with leaders. There's a tendency to want to make everything the way you want it instead of letting talent do its work.
Krause clearly always wanted things his way. Look at him vs Phil Jackson, who understood how to work with people.
MJ and Pippen both did selfish things. Krause let the fallout torpedo his relationship. Jackson worked with them even when they were flawed. That ability to manage people without being controlling is why PJ was such a great coach.

The greatest ego/personality manager in the history of sports.
Did it with two dominant teams filled with egos and personalities.
