Not to mention preceding that timeout, Scottie immediately called for the ball after Ewing scored to tie and proceeded to run down the court so he could heave up a prayer without even thinking about timeouts and setting up a better shot, sometimes he wasn’t all there when it came to crunch time game strategy

But that’s assuming the game has evolved schematically. It’s actually been dumbed down by a lot and the rule changes have simply handcuffed defense to allow more scoring so it’s a forced numbers game not an organic leap forward. Some of the rules were necessary because what the Bad Boys started and continued into the 90s was ugly and a perversion of the NBAs style but most of them were to recover from the influx of too many young players who couldn’t play the game correctly
I may be completely off base here, but watching the 90s Bulls games, basketball just feels like a game built around emotion, flow, momentum, and effort. Those Chicago crowds man. They fed off those guys energy and Vice versa. I think the game is “calculated” and “formulaic” now, so those games don’t have those huge swings and variations from one game to next in a series, where each game felt a little more like a part of a series.

The point is to win the game not to massage someone’s ego. Jackson made the right choice, they won and Pippen acted like a jackass. This was proven by the fact that he was in tears after the game realizing that he had made a critical mistake and openly apologized to all his teammates. And of course he had many more opportunities to step out of Jordan’s “shadow”, which btw only ignorant retards believe in the first place, by winning a title, playing for one or making other key game winning plays. It’s hard to believe anyone even thinks this way.
No one has an idea in hell what Pippen’s career is without Michael. That’s his legacy, living in MJs shadow. Rating Pippen has imo always been one of the more fascinating NBA debates.
I get people hate the decision. In a vacuum, it’s a suck thing to do. There’s no defending it. But we’re talking about a guy who is revered as the best 2nd banana of all time, at some point the dude wants to show people that he can be the man as well. I just think that guy was Jordan’s ultimate teammate, and it’s really easy for people to judge him without thinking of what he sacrificed for the Bulls and Jordan to be that good for so long.

Its also a huge misconception that teams shot so few 3s in the 90s. In 94-95 21.5 three point attempts per game led the NBA. By comparison that number was just 26.6 as late as 2014 so these people claiming that the 1990s game was akin to 1970s basketball and is so primitive compared to now obviously have never watched games prior to 2015.
Holy cherry picking.
The league moves the 3 point line up 2 feet for 3 years, so you use the league leader in 94-95, the first year of the change, instead of the league averages of 9.9/game and 12.7/game in the year before and after the rule change started/disappeared.

Disappointed they didn’t give any respect to Kemp. They said he was Gary Payton’s Alley oop partner and never really mentioned him again

Totally forgot Detlef Schrempf guarded MJ too...the list of stellar NBA athletic defenders who guarded MJ is exhilarating....Schrempf, Hornacek, Ainge, Ehlo, Majerle…..whewwwww those are some hard core high flyers there!

I actually hate what LeBron has become since joining the Lakers...im not defending LeBron the person, but simply defending LeBron the player. I can differentiate the two.

Oh please, the MJ lovers would be crucifying LeBron if he was guarded by the same guys. Don't even act like it wouldn't. LeBron would've dropped 50 on those cats. If you don't understand that, then you don't know shite about the NBA.

This should be titled Jordan's career. 99% of this stuff isn't new. We're barely seeing anything relating to that final season.
LOL WHAT?
Worst take yet.

Eh, it's a fun nostalgia trip, and the current day interviews are obviously new, but I agree a lot of the stories aren't really new.
I was big into the NBA in that era. Overcoming the Pistons, the Dream Team, the first retirement, the 72 win season...the documentary doesn't give me much I didn't know. Like I said, it's a fun watch, but if you followed the NBA in those days, 90% of it probably isn't new.

Its definitely about Michael's career leading up to the last season
They're using the Last season almost like a frame story for MJ's career.
Really thought, how can you understand Scottie's holdout without looking at him coming up through the organization and the years without Michael?
How can you understand Michael being willing to walk away if they don't sign Phil if you don't talk about Phil's background with the team?
If they aren't going to make a First, Second Third etc... dance, then the background is not only warranted, but necissary.
And we all knew this was an MJ doc.
