You'd think that one these years the USA would learn to stop kicking away possession down the middle of the field. But nope, we seem to love giving the other team perfect counter-attacking opportunities.
Dammit dammit dammit
We keep making JV mistakes ....
:sigh:

The Us looked like Les Miles trying to score by running the ball in his goal line formation there.

frick. Oh well, used to this.

That's the name of the game.
Nice little drive put together at the end, very hard to accept an mental offensive penalty when your 5 meters from scoring with about a minute left!

What's the realistic goal for the World Cup? Not finish last in the group?
Pool B
South Africa
Samoa
Japan
Scotland
USA
Yep, not finishing last would be a huge accomplishment. We have to try and finish ahead of the other Tier 2 nations.

Yea some pretty tough pools this year. Except New Zealand, that will be joke for them.

Ok went back and watch the 1st half (I love ESPN3 on demand) and I have to give the US credit.
They were playing very fundamental and tactical ball.
It's obvious Samoas plan was to attack attack attack attack. And it paid off over time. They just did a better job than the Eagles in the Ground & Pound department.
As I posted earlier the games was there for the US to win.

They had no respect for our defense. They were attacking from their own try line and moving the ball a hundred meters. Most teams in that position would kick to touch but not Samoa, they knew they could just run at us. That was their B squad too.
At this point yes I would say not finishing last is the goal. Yesterday was an ugly day for North American Rugby.

Have to disagree to a point. The US had 1 week together before playing that game, the Todd Clever distraction and missing Manoa (our most physical player)all the while trying out a different player package.
With the amount of games the US gets to play prior to the RWC, I saw enough out of that group Saturday night to feel optimistic against the other Tier 2 nations in our pool.
Not blaming the game at all on this but I felt there were some harsh calls that went against the Eagles as well.
I liked MacGinty at flyhalf. I felt as the game progressed, he got a feel for the game and changed his tactics as needed. Some young mistakes but that is the point for these build up matches.

You know who sucks...USA Rugby...
They still have not announced times of the Eagles games in Philly or Chicago.

I hate that they decided to abandon the game in Houston this year. Hopefully they come back to it next year. All three games were very successful from a ticket sales and rugby exposure perspective. There are a ton of people down south that can't make the trips to Philly, Chicago, Glendale Colorado (Infinity Park), or out to California to watch the Eagles.
