The conferences announced today that if either championship game cannot be played they would be declared no contests. ND would win the ACC by virtue of their regular season win over Clemson, and OSU would be the winner of the Big 10 by virtue of their superior winning %.

Expect a bunch of positive test results to be announced on Tuesday.

OSU is not getting in without playing this weekend.

The same logic would apply then as it does now regarding their current inclusion in the top 4. The committee clearly doesn't value games played too much, so I'm not sure why this would be the breaking point.

If OSU is 5-0 and USC is 5-0 (with no Conference Champ games) they should at least play each other otherwise it's just arbitrary.

The only way they don’t get in is if they lose. I’m not sure what their motivation is to play this weekend honestly. They’re in the top 4 already

If they're 6-0 and beat the best team in the other division something like 48-14, which is what I think happens, I would give them a spot. 5-0 without that win, nope.

It should be the four best conference champions from the Power 5.

If a five win team gets into the playoffs I’m not sure why they even had to play a season. Just write them in on the virtue of all those impressive wins versus BYE

If the Big 10 cancels their title game that playoff slot should go to USC since the Pac is playing their game even if Washington has to drop out.

If there's no difference between 0 games and 5, then there's no difference between 5 and 10. Sure as hell not between 5 and 8 games.

Ask UF the difference between 9 and 10 games.
A 2nd loss

I’m pretty sure the relevance of how many games you play doesn’t follow a linear map

If you list out a teams games from hardest to easiest you’re gonna find when you play fewer games you’re going to be comparing real football teams to an open date. Seems like a pretty big SOS issue.

How do you think an impressive showing against BYE stacks up against playing teams with actual human beings playing the game of football?

No, it follows an arbitrary "what number best supports my point" map.

About the same as P5 vs Sun Belt or FBS vs FCS stacks up every single year.

Who would you put in ahead of them? Please say Florida or A&M. Cincinnati or Coastal Carolina? That would be even better.

This is a stupid point if you're not also going to claim Notre Dame and Clemson should be excluded.

ideally, it follows a “who has the most impressive resume” mapping. Turns out, when comparing real football teams to an empty bench, it’s not hard to put together a better resume.

I agree but I don’t think it matters honestly if they’re putting them up there right now

There isn’t much incentive for ND to play. If we don’t have a game this weekend, they’re ACC champs. It would be a pussy move, but I could see ND having some COVID issues later this week.
