We were one win away from going to the World Series last year (and probably winning it), we have to go into win now mode.

If Soroka had been healthy, we go to the WS.

Braves are rumored to be in the JTR sweepstakes.

Eta: The state of this thread is sad.

Who? If that’s in reference to Justin Turner, that’s not an acceptable abbreviation. JT Realmuto?

Phillies already shipping him? He just signed 2 years ago. He’s great, no doubt, but D’arnaud is coming off a great year and we’ve got 2-3 really nice prospects at catcher. Seems like salary and prospect capital could be better spent elsewhere, no?

Oh, sweet. He had an opt out, I assume? Well, even if D’Arnaud keeps his production up, JT is an overall upgrade, especially defensively. So what kind of contract is he looking at? And do we keep TD as the backup/DH (in whatever form it manifests itself this season) or move him in a package for somebody at a different position and roll with a young ‘un as the backup?

Realmuto is looking for the second largest catcher contract ever. I seriously doubt the braves have done more than make a due diligence call. This is just JT's team trying to get under the phillies' skin and drive the price up a bit

No, he was taded to Philly with 2 years of control. Rumor is Philly has offered 6/110.

The state of us not doing anything in the off-season is sad.

That's pretty much all of baseball right now.

Come July, when he is the 5th starter behind Fried, Morton, Soroka, and Anderson, yes he will do it for me. The Padres just gave up 4 prospects for a 5th starter that is probably on the same level as Smyly.

Musgrove is like their 6th starter, on top of also getting Blake Snell.

They're not afraid to push the chips in and go into win-now mode. We should be doing that considering that we literally had 3 games to win one to go to the World Series.

If we don't bring in someone who has a chance to provide what Ozuna did for us last season, then what are we even doing?

How did that work out for them and Clevinger. They knew(as did the 29 other teams) that he was damaged goods and they gave away 3 top prospects for him and BOOM, 3 starts in he needs Tommy John.

There is a difference in being aggressive and being stupid. The Padres were the latter, I really wouldn't be using them as an example to make your point.
