Yeah, he's toast. That'd be a waste, IMO.

You think? I know he had some sort of medical issue at the end of the year. If it's something manageable and his arm is fine, you never know. Maybe he'd take a 1 year deal for a couple million.

Santana had a pretty good season but is still a low end 2 or 3 who will get overpaid by a desperate team. I would love to get Jacoby ellsbury but I know it's a pipe dream

Chipper Jones

I've been an Atlanta Brave since I was 18, and I will be a Brave till the day I leave this world. I love this organization & every man in that clubhouse. Couldn't be more proud of them. I was just asked a question & answered it sincerely like I always try to do #bravesfamily

Good response. The "outrage" over his pick was dumb.

I'm LMAO over this shite. Chipper, just like me, said the first month of the season this team didn't make contact enough to win in the postseason. Nobody got all mad then.

But what makes it really funny is all the outrage and replies he got. People think if you are fan you can't use your brain. I've pissed off many LSU and Braves fans because they don't know the difference. Because you are loyal to something doesn't mean you have to sunshine pump, if you aren't criticizing weaknesses, you're aren't fixing them.

I can't think of one day where I thought Jordan Jefferson was a legit SEC QB, or Les Miles knew anything about a legit offense

Then how did the Braves win 96 games and have a winning record against all NL playoff teams if they didn't make enough contact?

I think the comment was not enough contact to win in the playoffs, not in the regular season.

Able to beat up on average pitching in the regular season. Don't really get that opportunity in the playoffs. Not a lot of bombs, have to string together hits and manufacture runs with fundamental hitting (i.e., no strikeouts) more often. Lineup really did have a lot of holes in it.

Seems like Wren has alluded to this too.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that we could acquire one, especially in light of the fact that we're trying to bring back Huddy.

Which would mean we likely part with one of Minor/Teheran/Wood and some others.

What do you guys think about going after Bartolo Colon?

Probably late to respond to this, but I don't feel like we need another #2-#3 starter for the money he'll probably get. And he's old and was juicing just a year ago so who knows how long he'll hold up.

Keith Law had Tommy La Stella on his list of 10 disappointing guys that he saw at the AFL

quote:

It's not so much that anything was wrong with La Stella but that you're banking on one tool here, the hit tool. He's a fringy defender at best and a below-average runner, and I don't foresee much power with a no-load swing and a flat finish.

He can hit, though -- his hand-eye coordination is very good, and the swing is simple and hard, like a quick hack at the ball that could produce line drives and hard ground balls, but few hits likely to leave the park. That might be enough for Atlanta fans sick of the Dan Uggla Show -- just two more years, folks! -- but it's more average regular than star.

I think we could see us package Medlen in a deal with some prospects (not really sure what we have)to make a run at an "Ace".

Maybe do a Medlen and Wood for David Price IF Price would sign long term. Also assuming we resign Hudson.

Price/Hudson/Beachy/Minor/Teheran?

If we trade for Price it'd strictly be a one year rental.

Now that doesn't mean I'd be opposed to trading Medlen or Wood...Medlen is eligible for free agency soon and Wood is still a question mark

Who ever thought La Stella had the potential to be a star?

I'm thinking any talk with the Rays would have to center around Teheran or Minor.
