We could also use the extra cash to start thinking about the future with some of the young guys.

So what's the general consensus with what we'll do with the extra 10mil? Utility guy?

I think it's even more than 10. With arb, Prado was going to take about $7.5mm this year. Jupton is at $9.5. That brings out total available money based on spending estimates to around $14mm not being used.

When I first heard about this trade this morning, I was bummed about losing Prado. I love that guy. But after a little time and reading, I feel good about the trade. He was gone anyway after this year and we still have 10 million to spend. I'm super excited about this season. We may break all kinds of team strikeout records but with our pitching and bullpen, we are set up nice. Then before you know it, Beachy will be back!!!

My gosh MLB network is incredible during times like this too.

That, but again I think we'll keep most of it handy for if/when we want to make a deal at the trade deadline once we see how this team is performing and what it's weaknesses are.

I skipped school so I could watch MLB network today and NHL

but seriously, our defense and pitching will be one of the best in baseball.

Yeah, I think we will hold onto the money for when we need to make a deal midseason.

That was my exact reaction. I'm a loyal guy and I hate losing players who have been with us for a few seasons, but I'm pumped now.

Yeah, I hate losing Prado too. MVP of the team IMO. I like the lineup we are looking at though. At first I figured Francisco would be at 3rd but Chris Johnson is no slouch.

1 J Upton
2 Simmons
3 Heyward
4 Freeman
5 McCann (when healthy)
6 BJ Upton
7 Uggla
8 Third baseman

Unless they trust Simmons enough to lead off and want that pressure on him. Thoughts?
