I'm excited about this. I've always enjoyed watching Phillips play. This team will be fun to watch this year.

Phillips doesnt offer much. Its telling that the Reds paid 13 mil to get rid of him. Bat and defense has been declining steadily for the past 4 years, but he is better than Peterson, and it will allow us to let Albies play in Gwinnett until at least August.
And apparently its feared that Rodriguez is very bad off. Going to be out for the year(at least).

So it seems that 22 roster spots are taken before the start of spring training
C:Tyler Flowers||Kurt Suzuki
CIF:Freddie Freeman||Adonis Garcia
MIF:Brandon Phillips||Dansby Swanson||Chase d'Arnaud||Jace Peterson
OF:Matt Kemp||Ender Inciarte||Nick Suzuki
SP:Julio Teheran||Jaime Garica||Bartolo Colon||Mike FOltynewicz||RA Dickey
RP:Jim Johnson||Mauricio Cabrera||Arodys Vizcaino||Ian Krol||Josh Collmenter
That leaves one OF spot and two RP spots
Micah Johnson and Emilio Bonafacio look to be the guys vying for the OF spot
Luke Jackson, Blaine Boyer, Eric O'Flaherty, Jose Ramirez, Paco Rodriguez, AJ Minter, and Akeel Morris should be the top choices for the two RP spots.
Right now Id say Bonafacio has the advantage since he has played CF before. Id say either Paco or Minter will get another lefty spot out of the pen. I think Minter is a future closer, but Paco was damn good for the Dodgers before his injury. I have no clue with the other spot, but Boyer has been a descent reliever for his whole career, but those young guys can throw gas, but who knows if they can put it together.

d'Arnaud not a lock imo. I could see Kelly Johnson or someone similar being signed very soon.
Also think Rivero has a pretty good shot of getting a BP spot.

I don't see where d'arnaud brings anything to the table other than position versatility. He ain't a great hitter to start with and can't even execute a sacrifice bunt. I'd rather to resign Kelly Johnson .

Jace kind of sucks. Not sure how people still think otherwise at this point. I'd much rather watch Adonis at 3B than Jace.

Just curious, but where did you see this? I saw 3-5 months recovery which would be May or June return.

I think it was DOB. I think he said something to the fact that the organization fears it will be much longer, but its not out in the open because of HIPPA.
