There's literally no other reason he'd be on the roster as a 7th outfielder. The thing is we already have BJ and Schafer in front of him to fill that role. Not to mention, that while he isn't as fast, Uggla is a better baserunner than Constanza. But as a lot of us have said, it really all comes back to only carrying one reserve infielder, and that is Paul Janish. Just doesn't seem smart.
Plus we all know that Fredi won't be able to help himself and Constanza is going to get at least one AB in the fricking playoffs.
I'll take the 1 in 100 chance that Uggla comes off the bench and hits a HR over the 1 in 100 chance that Constanza hits the ball out of the infield.

I'm really kinda sad that we may never see Uggla smash again in a Barves uni.

I just don't see any way to dump him. We would likely have to pay more than a full year's salary for a team to take him on for two years.
No way the Braves are going to pay $15M+ for him to play for somebody else when their next best options are EJohnson/Rev/La Stella

frick Dan Uggla, he absolutely doesn't deserve to be on a playoff roster

I am fine with them leaving him off, but Vroooooom getting his spot is laughable.

Agree. Already have Schafer who is a much better version of Constanza...Varvaro getting left off is weird.

If's he deemed a net negative, may as well pay him to suck for someone else.

Highlighting the batting average is pretty annoying. Uggla actually had a positive oWAR. His OBP was respectable (higher than Simmons' and Gattis', for instance) and he has plus power for his position.
In a best of 5 series the difference between a .180 and .250 hitter is muted. One or two extra singles over the course of the series likely won't make the difference in a game but Uggla's ability to hit the ball out of the park could.
Like others have said, it just doesn't make any sense why we need Constanza. His value ceiling is what, one or two pinch running situations in the series?
But I'm pumped for tomorrow. I hope the Ted is rowdy as hell

how sad is it that I'd be so happy if Uggla could just hit .240?

As long as he hits more mamos than errors, I'll be ok.

I think it will be loud but I wouldn't expect it to be like Pittsburgh. That was 20 years of pent up frustration released at once. That crowd was insane.

I think it will be pretty loud tonight especially the way last year ended.
