People are talking in comment sections on Facebook (I know) that he may even be looking at a mid 2021 return too. Is that just baseless or what?

Without Soroka, rotation as weak as any in the game.
Just keeping it real fellas.
bout to find out real quick. Probably still make the joke of an expanded playoff field if you’re very optimistic but can’t reasonably see us making much noise.

Although injuries to position players aren’t up from recent years, 2020’s total of 39 non-COVID-related pitcher IL stints since Opening Day is more than 50 percent higher than in any previous opening period, and the 2020 tally of 30 pitcher arm injuries is 150 percent higher than the record in any previous season’s opening stretch (12). The count could climb further if Ohtani or any other pitchers go on the IL because of an injury incurred prior to Monday.

Granted, the structure of this season could be goosing those stats slightly in an indirect way. For one thing, expanded rosters have deepened the pool of pitchers with the potential to get hurt. For another, established pitchers may be less likely to hide injuries and pitch through discomfort during a season they view as less legitimate. “To be frank, this season is kind of a mess to begin with, so I got to think big picture here,” Strasburg said on July 25. “It’s my career. I know that in the long run it’s important to try to make as many starts as you can, and by putting yourself in a compromising position now, I don’t really know if it’s the best way moving forward

It took demarcus cousins almost exactly a year to return.

So take that for what it’s worth.

What? That makes no sense. They’re still just playing 9 innings. Except for double-headers when they actually play less.

Now, this is fair. Obviously, you can’t fake a torn Achilles or UCL, but with other, more minor injuries, players are gonna err on the side of their long-term health. I know nobody who thinks their team may wind up winning it all doesn’t want to admit this, but there is gonna be a huge asterisk beside both the MLB and NBA championships. I mean, I’d still hang the banner and wear the ring, but the champions will not have had to go through the grind of 162 or 82(consecutive) game marathons before surviving the intensity of the playoffs and the incredible pressure of playing those gams in front of fans. These are merely exhibitions. I’ll still watch, but let’s just be honest with ourselves.

Meh. I think the NBA is fairly legitimate

May have changed a bit since still so early in the season (i.e., small numbers), but hitting stats have also apparently been arse thus far. So in spite of the theoretically lower quality pitching talent, it's not like we've seen a big jump in hitting either. Could be dated but that's my recollection.

Much more so than MLB, but no. They took a 4 month break before the playoffs are playing in front of zero fans. I’ll give them a ton of credit—they’ve done just about the best job absolutely possible, especially for translating to tv. But it’s not the same. Again, I’d hang the banner and wear the ring, but no former champions are gonna give the 2020 champion the same credence as any that came before. It’s just too completely different.

sure, lets just forget that they played 3/4 of the season and created a playoff system that would make a fair and equal postseason

if anything, winning a championship this year is harder than it ever has and should make it more legit. unlike baseball
