Trying to look at the admittedly bleak bright side of the Soroka injury here.

He will miss a maximum of 12 starts.

We would have likely won 9 of them.

With our offense a guy off the street can win 3.

I suppose this means losing him will cost us 6 wins.

In a 60 game season that’s a lot obviously but hopefully the guys can rally around him and some young guys step up in the rotation.

be looking at a mid 2021 return too. Is that just baseless or what?

Typical recovery time after surgery is 9-12 months. So even the most optimistic outlook would have him missing the first month of the season. Given how the Braves surely won’t be rushing him back, I’d guess the 2021 all-star break is a more likely return.

You’re being dramatic. It’ll probably cost us 2-3 wins.

Bigger problem is the postseason. Unless we get some surprises like Hamels coming back or Touki and Wright pitching out of their mind, there’s no way we will win more than one playoff series against teams with decent rotations

Agree with this

I expect someone will step up. Seems very Braves-like to have guys pitch out of their mind for a month or two when we're shorthanded. But that's where it gets frustrating, because a) it's not sustainable and not reliable in the playoffs and b) AA & Co. use those performances as excuses not to make moves even though we all know they'll be coming back to earth in due time.

Should probably cancel the season now. MLB fans aren't going to want a Soroka-less season.
