Crazy.

Went from what seemed like a lot of options to no depth at all.

Fried
Strider
Wright
Morton
Anderson
Elder
Dodd
Shuster
Allard

Fried, Wright, Anderson, Allard lost to injury. Soroka seemingly not ready for majors again yet. Dodd and Shuster shaky at best and really should be pitching AAA.

Anyway here’s hoping Wright and Fried injuries aren’t as bad as they seem.

Oh I don't have a name or a preference.

BUt you can look on Spotrac.com under 2023 free agents and see there's a list.

I can name a few from that list, if you'd like?

I think we can make the playoffs and maybe even win the division if Strider, Morton and Elder keep pitching like they have and we patch together 4th/5th rotation spots with Dodd, Shuster, Soroka? and bullpen games. Going to be a fricking grind though and I feel like the arms will be absolutely spent by the time the playoffs rolled around. We would absolutely need to have Fried and Wright back and stretched out to match other playoff rotations though.

Mike Minor
Chris Archer
Julio Teheran
Erick Fedde

There's a bunch more. And no, I'm not saying I like this list.

But I think you fly a couple of guys in and at least take a look to see what they have.

What are our other options?

Shuster, Dodd and Soroka are better than all of those options you posted.

I know I'm right, but that doesn't necessarily mean Dodd, Shuster and Soroka will be good when they pitch for us.

I just know for a fact that the guys you listed would be bad if they pitched for us.

Chris Archer

This was the most lopsided trade I've ever seen in any sport. Even in his younger years, he was obscenely overrated.

Broski -

Are you seriously ok with us running out 3 rookies + Strider and Uncle Charlie for the next 2 months?

You forgot Elder.

And yes, I'm more comfortable doing that than kicking the tires on Mike Minor and Julio Teheran.

Not going to have much of a choice. The available free agents (Minor, Archer, Teheran, MadBum) would at best be about what Odorizzi was last year. It's also a little too early for teams to start selling off rental starters because other than Oakland and Washington, no one has really fallen out of a race yet.

Allard is supposed to be ready in June, hopefully by then we have more clarity on Wright and Fried so we can try and mold him into a reliever instead of needing him in the rotation.

He has already had tommy John. If he gets it again he will probably retired TBH.

What? I don’t think many pitchers have gotten 2 tommy John surgeries and returned to their level of play. I hope I am wrong.

I didn't forget Elder. HE'S A ROOKIE

Strider has 27 total career starts.

Uncle Charlie is 39.

Shuster and Dodd - they rookies right?

That's 3 rookies. A stud with 27 starts and Uncle Charlie.

LIke I said, there are other names of available free agents. I listed a handful.

It's becoming more and more common considering a lot of pitchers are now getting their first TJ in high school and college.
