What's wrong with Vavaro again?

Nothing. He is what he is though. In a 6 man pen with a couple of guys Fredi refuses to use, he's being asked to come in late during close games. Is that ideal? Definitely not. I have no problem with him coming in during the 6th inning, or the late innings of a game where we are up or down 3 or 4 runs. In the 8th inning of a 1 run game he makes me nervous though. So do Avilan and Gearrin.

He is pitching well this year, I don't see why he is being grouped in with Carp and Rasmus

And it's a bit too soon to bring up Wood from a burning a year of his time clock standpoint.

Whether we bring up Wood tomorrow or July 30, he'll still be a free agent in 2019.

Super 2 status is the only thing that could still be affected by the date of his call-up, but that's not really something we have to worry about with him.

When did this change? Simmons came up after a certain point last year and won't be a free agent until 2019. Did something change this offseason in regards to callups after June?

He has looked pretty good for the most part. I don't hold the other day against him because that game should never have gone on that long and Mac fricked him over with some lazy, sloppy defense. I still don't feel comfortable seeing him on the mound with a 1 or 2 run lead in the 7th or 8th inning though. Having the bullpen we currently have kind of forces him into that role. That's all I'm saying.

I guess I'm thinking in terms of years differently. Simmons will be a free agent after the 2018 season, Wood after 2019 (assuming he's called up).

Using baseball reference's method, Wood will be a free agent in 2020.

The mere thought of John Rocker does piss me off a little. Good observation.

Ike Davis finally showing signs of life outweighs the John Rocker reference, though. My mood is in superb condition.

Gotcha, was wondering if I had missed something this offseason.

The John Rocker reference seemed to have gotten your panties into a bind. Just a observation.
