welp, I look forward to seeing Alex Wood the next few games

ETA: In fact, I think I may have a Wood UGA t-shirt jersey from a year or so ago

I don't think its the pitchers as much as their usage, TBH

I do? Don't see why you would think that.

Yeah, definitely on that. But it's not like Fredi has many options with the pen we have at the moment.

Getting Beachy back and having Medlen move into a 8th inning role would help along with bringing up a kid like Wood.

Oh yeah, I know. Not so much about him talking crap, I just would have liked to had the sweep to rub in his face or hand him a broom when I show up.

Outside of Kimbrel, what pitcher out there do you feel comfortable giving an entire high leverage inning to?

The John Rocker reference seemed to have gotten your panties into a bind. Just a observation.

Well, it's honestly kind of hard to say much about Rasmus and Carpenter since I have seen a grand total of like 3 innings out of the 2 of them. But Gearrin and Avilan should be almost exclusively facing righties and lefties, respectively. Varvaro is OK to face either.

Realistically, the best strategy for carrying a 6 man pen with a couple of virtual unknowns would be using Kimbrel to put out fires instead of "close". But there's a better chance of me shitting gold bricks tomorrow morning than Fredi bringing Kimbrel in before the 9th inning.

I don't see why we had Gearin in to face a bunch of lefties. And clearly the pen hasn't been that bad since the EOF injury, had won 8 straight.

There's no excuse for carrying 6 relievers when 3 of them are Rasmus, Carpenter, and Varvaro imo.

I would've felt a lot more comfortable with Kimbrel facing Wright and Duda then letting Gearrin or Varvaro face the Mets AAA hitters.

Of course, I'd have felt even more comfortable if Venters and O weren't dead

I agree. If you are going to carry 6 for more than a few days, at least 4 of them need to be high quality arms. Because like you said, who out there besides Kimbrel doesn't make you nervous late in a 1 run game?

ETA: What we really need is Chad Durbin. Obviously.

Not much point in bringing up yet another guy from the minors Fredi won't pitch. Who would you realistically bring up that would help?

And it's a bit too soon to bring up Wood from a burning a year of his time clock standpoint.
