Should we expect Maitan to be top 3 in a couple of years?
Also, tell me more Kolby Allard. As much as I follow Braves prospects, I seem to know less about him than anyone else... Seems this dude just started dominating all of a sudden. Future starter? Future relief/closer?

Allard is the second youngest player in the Southern League (Acuna is the youngest).
He was the top prep arm in the 2015 draft before some back issues crept up which allowed him to slip to the Braves at 14.
Frame is a little small at 6'1, but plenty big enough to stick as a starter. Has good athleticism and a simple delivery which is easily repeatable.
Fastball sits in the low 90s and tops out at 94-95. I would give it a future 55 grade.
Curveball is a plus, plus pitch that is a true out pitch at the big league level. 60 grade with a future 65-70.
Changeup is a work in progress, but it has flashed as plus. 45 right now.
Command has been superb this year as he can spot the fastball on both sides of the plate. Command with the secondary stuff is inconsistent. He looks like a 2/3 at the big league level to me. The frame and velocity keep him from profiling as a TOR arm to me, but I think he is the best pitching prospect in the system, even if he doesn't have the highest ceiling.

I mean, I wouldn't say he just started dominating. He was flat out dominant last year in his first year of pro ball after being a first round pick in 2015. After his first two starts last year where he got hit around a little bit, he had a 1.75 ERA with a WHIP below 1 and almost 10 K's per 9 in over 80 IP. Which was good enough to allow him to skip A+ and start the year at AA this year.
Has a plus fastball and an even better curve with advanced command. He will be a helluva #2, and could even be a #1 IMO.

With us having Phillips (and him playing well) and Albies struggling I could see him staying at AAA the entire year pretty easily. Though we could flip Phillips as well with our suckitude.
I think Sims and Newcomb are up by the all-star break most likely, as soon as we decide to cut bait with Colon it'll make space for one of them.

I kind of wish we would just put them all on the big league roster and see what happens. At least the AA and AAA guys.

Since we are going to be in serious contention for #1 in 2018, lets talk about Seth Beer.
Left high school in Atlanta a semester early and enrolled at Clemson last January. .369/.535/.700, 18 HR, 62/27 BB/K as a freshman last year. .288/..470/.606, 12 HR, 51/24 BB/K this year.
The batting average is a little low this year, but he is getting pitched around a lot. The power is still there, and the strike outs are still down.
With another good junior year next year, he is going to probably be the best prospect in the nation. He's going to be on a Kris Bryant/Evan Longoria level.
My question is. If we get the chance to draft him? Do we? We all know our philosophy of getting high upside high school pitching early, but he is on another level as a college position player, and could be the starter in left as early as mid to late 2019.
