I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. After winning the World Series, Chelsea told him she was done spending time in Atlanta. I know many admired her, but I have NEVER had a good vibe about her.
AA absolutely made the right move. The Freeman’s had no intentions of staying after getting the ring.
As more comes out, it will be interesting to see what percentage might actually boo him the weekend of June 24th.

I better see signs all over the ballpark -
"You turned down 5 years $140 million"
to end up with the enemy for 6 years and $162 with $56 deferred.... lol
OK.

To be fair, I do think AA's tears were kinda bullshite, but Freddie's agency deserves 99% of the blame in this.
Freddie wanted to be back in ATL, no doubt in my mind, but his agency played him.

Dansby uses the same representation that Freeman has
Well that ain't good.
But Chipper made a good point in his interview today, the agent WORKS FOR YOU. Not the other way around. Hopefully Dansby knows that and he lets his agent(s) know that they work for him, not the other way around. He's a smart, well-read guy so I think he knows that.

Anyone who boos Freddie his first AB back here is a fricking moron.
Now every AB after, fair game. But not his first AB back here.

You hate AA.(Why, I don't know) We all get it.
His emotion on Monday was as pure as it gets.

As much as I loved Freddie and pulled for him, he can eat a bag of dicks now
Seems to me he never wanted to come back. And all the other things he’d said was horseshite

Saw this on another board. Dead-on IMO:

There is all this talk about pressure on Olson, but the Dodgers should be concerned about Freeman. He may not be all there the first month or two.

I can respect this.

Relax champ.
I think he made a good move with the subsequent extension.
Still think his tears were of the crocodile variety. He got a better deal with Olson, but he also knew the optics of him being the GM that "let Freddie go" so he played the emotional card.
Based on that Olney report, he and Freddie and his agency had hardly been on speaking terms. I don't think they were as close as many believe, which is why I think the tears were fake.

I'm assuming Excel tells their clients to copy/paste.

Or Freddie was too passive and forgot what the other dude said that his agents work for him, not the other way around. IF—and I still think it’s a big if—he really wanted to wind up back in Atlanta, he should have made that abundantly clear to his agents and gave the green light to play chicken for as long as they needed to get as much as they could, but to not let AA pull his last best offer without talking to Freddie 1st.

Perfectly reasonable sentiments TBH
Agreed. But I know Dale IRL and was just busting his balls a bit. We’ve been talking about this all week. I agree with him on everything on this, but he’s just more emotionally invested in it and his saltiness is a bit amusing.

I actually agree w/most of this. But your take on AA is garbage.
People are allowed to have emotion. And if you think that he was faking that on Monday then I can't help you.

Where did I say they weren't?
Also, by that logic, you can't be mad at Freddie for being pissy with his comments on AA's tears today, because that's just Freddie showing anger as an emotion.
Stop looking for a fight and take what I said at face value.

I’ll go on and admit the main reason I’m upset is because I’m going to miss that big toothed lanky bastard. Although I still think Olson may very well be the better player over the next 5 years, it’s still losing a big chunk of the clubhouse. I wish it were easy to keep the whole team intact. But I know that’s impossible. Deep down I think if it were completely up to FF he’d be a Brave right now. But I think he had his agent and his wife making the calls. And before he knew it he got dropped.

It was surprisingly a very good interview and you could tell Chipper is pissed at Freddie and the entire situation even though he was carefully choosing his words. It’s definitely worth a listen
- praised AA multiple times for how he handled everything. Couldn’t blame him for walking away and pivoting to Olson
- said Olson is going to be incredible for Atlanta, but the Freeman situation should’ve never happened
- mentioned agents/agencies like Scott Boras and how players should be weary of those that are only concerned about maximum earning potential. Also said the #1 thing to remember before free agency is the agent works for you
- also mentioned the first time he met Boras at age 18 and told him the same thing to his face. Also nearly slipped up and called Boras a son of a bitch
- when asked why he never let his contract situation get to the point where he would become a free agent, Chipper got pretty passionate and said “because I never wanted to play anywhere else. I always wanted to be a Brave and always made that clear to my agent and the front office. The grass isn’t always greener and extra money doesnt offset being comfortable with an organization and the people in it.”
- said something to the effect that Freddie might win 3 or 4 more rings and never look back. But he could also have a lot of regret over this when he’s older. And he hopes that doesn’t happen to Freddie.
- mentioned his best friend BB Abbott filling him in on the Olson trade and subsequent extension. Also made sort of a jab at Freddie’s agent, saying Abbott knew how to deal with AA and Olson made it clear to everyone he wanted to be in Atlanta and to get a deal done asap.
