Being anchored at the bottom of the front page doesn't help, either.

If 1-8 hits, then he will be fine playing defense, hitting 9th, and batting .240.

When people say this, they are implying that he's some kind of Andrelton Simmons savant on defense. He isn't. He's an average defender with a howitzer for an arm, and it would take an act of God to bring him up to .240 after what we saw last season.

Arcia should have been traded the moment the 2023 NLDS ended. Bryce Harper took his manhood on national TV and he embarrassed himself by getting in shouting matches with Phillies fans from the dugout during a goddamn elimination game. He has been a terrible player ever since and both sides probably need to move on.

Well he's here for this year so there's no need for any of us to make a big deal of it.

Nobody is Andrelton defensively, stop it.

He makes the plays that need to be made, that's all I care about.

Now you're just being ridiculous.

Lot of optimism to expect 1-8 to hit after last year.

2023 and last year were extremes on both ends of the spectrum.

Expecting a happy medium between the two should be a realistic expectation

Also, no way in hell the plethora of injuries to all the starters repeats itself

Then he's just an average defender. Lots of average defenders out there that can out hit their body weight.

You can choose negativity, I'm not.

Then that's fine. As long as everyone else is doing their part.

Again, not getting all of the fricking negativity in here.

Last year had its moments, but was a pretty tough watch. Even when everyone was healthy, we weren’t great, and we haven’t done much to improve. Hopefully things level out a bit and the guys play better ball this year.

I don’t know why anyone should get so bent out of shape about people voicing concerns. It’s part of being an invested fan. We are obviously hoping for the best, and will be cheering them on come Opening Day.

Outside of the staff(and the top-3 is one of the best in the game with a healthy Strider) there wasn't much to improve on. It's obvious the FO is banking on everyone being healthy and at worst, having a healthy medium between 2023 and last year's offense.

This is a stacked team when they are 100%

Arcia should be in Gwinnett

The Atlanta native who is now in Chicago looked like Babe Ruth compared to Arcia last year, and he wasn't exactly a worldbeater himself

I want you to explain what plays shortstops are and aren't supposed to make.

Don't do your usual platitude bullshite, actually back this up.

Are we arguing that Orlando isn't an above average defensive shortstop?

He has average range with a howitzer for an arm. These attributes, along with quite literally being the worst hitter in baseball, are not good enough to start on a team who is serious about winning anything.

The Braves are using injuries as an excuse to cover up for a whole hell of a lot of underperformance that was occurring separate from the injuries, and the blind optimist homers are eating it up.

Injuries are not the only thing that went wrong with the offense last year.

Won't argue how bad he was at the plate. Do think it was magnified more because he was one of the few players that maintained their health through out the year. He should be batting ninth, not sixth.

He should be batting ninth for Gwinnett. He is literally the worst hitter in baseball. This is why it was magnified, not because he was healthy. For as bad as he was at the plate last year, it still seems like a lot of people don't understand just how truly awful it was.

Between arm and range, he is very average.
