Chipper back on the big league staff. Quietly added to the staff page on the official website today. Wonder if he got sideways with Seitzer.

If he put on a Hooters uniform and a wig, you never know (not that there’s anything wrong with that)

We signed Bryan De La Cruz to a 1 yr non-guaranteed deal.

Great, just what they needed. Another strike out prone guy who doesn’t take walks and is a poor defender.
I’m not even sure this qualifies as a “good move as a low-risk flyer”, but maybe it works out. I can live with it if they spend money on SS and another SP.

I would say BDLC is a depth piece to stash in Gwinnett, but I am really starting to think the Braves are going to use this year to reset the tax and go big on 2026-2028.

Possibly, but while it's non-guaranteed, the language of the contract is a MLB deal, not MiLB

Not sure what it means, if anything, but I do find it interesting that our largest contract of all-time is lower than every other NL East team.

It’s interesting as you move left to right in the columns on that chart how terrible some of those contracts look in hindsight.

Also, a lower AAV than every team but the Rays, Pirates, and White Sox.
Assuming Riley has the highest multiyear AAV the Braves have given out. And assuming those 3 teams haven’t ever had someone paid more than $21 million/year.

Yeah... because FA contracts will magically start getting cheaper next year

That's not the point. Resetting the tax penalty saves millions of dollars.
But I do agree with you that it's funny to think AA will spend big in 2026-2028 other than reupping some of the long-term contracts that will be coming due.
