#Braves are smitten with Jorge Soler, person said. Julio Teheran likely wouldn't get it done. Could Miller spark interest from #Cubs?

Just think of all the pitching prospects we could get if we acquired Soler.

Which wouldn't get it done.

See this is where it's just all a matter of the teams' philosophy, because some of the cubs folks writing about this tid bit wouldn't even do a one for one, and I kind of agree with that. Soler is basically all projection right now, but has shown flashes. He's under contract for another 5 years (which if he comes anywhere near his potential will be a steal)and is only 23 years old. And there is no doubt that the cubs philosophy is load up on power as pitching will sort itself out our can be found in FA, were as it seems the braves go the opposite route.

Longwinded way of saying, its not outlandish that you not only wouldn't get something else back, but ultimately would have to part with some minor piece to even it out. But my bet is that it doesn't get done because both sides overvalue their asset.

I'm with you. Which is why I want to stay away from Soler. The Braves are already gambling on Olivera, a below average defender and hoping his bat will come around to match his hype. Granted, Soler is much, much younger but the same criteria pretty much fit him. They simply can't gamble on two of those types of players and miss on both. Would definitely set them back.

The Braves must have narrowly missed out on him.

Does anyone else feel like this could/will drive up the asking price of all the prized arms in our farm system now? Seeing that most current pitchers will be asking for more based off the ridiculous contracts handed out this off-season? Pitchers under team control could fetch us a bit more since they won't be owed more.

Which is why the Braves are asking for the moon regarding Miller... and they should be. All they need is for that one bite.

They wanted to sweeten the pot by asking for one of their top pitching prospects. At best it was lateral.
