The Saints beat the 49ers and outgained them in yds 2-1. The 49ers were very lucky even to be in that game.
The Saints would have beaten the Patriots -- on the road -- if not for an insanely blatant hold that was not called on the winning TD pass.
The Saints are better than those two teams.

I don't know about being better than the Patriots, but I definitely think they are better than Carolina.
SF and NO is a close call for 2nd best in the NFC.
I'd go:
Denver
Seattle
New England
San Francisco/New Orleans
