Is it butchering when you remove trees that someone else added later to return to the course to the original design?

Every course looked like that in that era. You could say the same for Augusta when it opened. Doesn't mean the course is better for it.
It's his shtick at every single course he redesigns. Cut down all the trees no matter what actually makes for interesting play.

I'm guessing you are arguing that Oakmont was wrong to remove its trees, Oak Hill was wrong to remove its trees, and Pinehurst was wrong to remove its rough.
