it was at the end of the major calendar year kinda giving the name "PGA Championship" more of a powerful meaning like it was the end of the year and this is the MAJOR for the whole pga tour.

The PGA and the PGA Tour are two entirely separate entities

I'm glad they moved it. Having it at the end of the year it always made it seem like it was just on a lower tier than the rest of the majors. Maybe it still is but it's no longer treated like a back of the line red headed step child major. The Open can keep the excitement up based on prestige alone, the PGA didn't have that going for it.

Seriously, what is wrong with DJ? Shot E on the front yesterday, followed by a 43 on the back, and now he's +6 through 13 today. Only Michael Block is behind him in the tournament.

He gives zero fricks and stopped working on and caring about his game

Yeah, he's -7.5 on SG putting this week. That's last in the field

But he's basically level in SG off the tee as well, he's losing shots on his approach shots, and losing shots in his shots around the green, so he's really not doing anything great right now. He's just putting worse than anything else in his game, but seemingly nothing in his game is close to sharp

ESPN has not showed a shot in almost 30 minutes now. Spent the last 20+ minutes of their early coverage talking about Scottie's arrest last year, and now we'll get probably 10 minutes of intro bullshite on the network coverage

If we're using poor play at a major as the end all be all of this, then there's a ton of PGA and amateur golfers who have apparently stopped caring.

a ton of PGA Tour players weren't a top 5 ranked player in the world as recently as 3 years ago. He was still a top 10 player when he left for LIV. I'm not comparing him to a normal tour player. He was one of the best in the world for a long, long time and has fallen off a cliff quickly

This is absolutely true, but he’s also 40 years old. When he was really in his prime, he was one of, if not the best, drivers of the golf ball in the world. Hard to carry that into your 40s.

Should he be this bad? Of course not, but I’m not sure why so many still expect him to be a top 10 or close player either

I would expect him to be somewhat competitive. He's 40 without any significant injuries that could have derailed his career
