I think players are overall being far too conservative out there on this course
You have fairways you can hit a mile, rough that has really no teeth for the most part, and to kick it off even more for whatever reason they did water the shite out of the greens the last few weeks so you have very receptive greens you can spin it on
I think it being a major and a “links you have to use your big brainiac euro mind” have them fooled a bit

There’s no penalty for missing fairways (or greens for the most part) out there.

If you don't hit the fairway, you essentially lose a stroke. It's harder to be aggressive when you're laying back off the tee.

this is just not true. You can get bad lies out there of course, but guys are just going to bomb driver. You have to get unlucky at this point in the rough.
