I don’t think it’s irrelevant

I think it just shows their mindset of what they are doing.

Sure, I don’t understand benchmarking it against Augusta. I don’t think anybody is arguing Augusta is some easy major setup.

In an ideal world they would have suspended play the rest of the day yesterday and finished today, but these tournaments are for TV. I will say I am enjoying the bomb/hack it out of the rough and try to make par vibe to the US Open less and less.

Some of the better PGA setups recently have been more risk/reward in my opinion

I was out there yesterday and it was a slog for everyone involved. We stuck it out through the delay and started following Burns and Scott on the 8th when play resumed.

The weather is iffy all week in the Burgh, so getting it in made sense. But it did feel a bit rushed.

It really sucks when good shots get penalized at the us open which happens way too often

Yep

I would rather they just setup the course better and make it a par 66 if they need to in order to why the “scores” they want

More wife issues probably

I mean when he won the Masters, it looked like his wife didn't even want to be there. It was extremely awkward. Pretty easy to see the relationship was still strained.

Eh, he may have stuff going on at home but this is a reach. I saw nothing after his masters win that looked awkward or like his wife didn’t want to be there. Feels like confirmation bias tbh

I don't know, count me in the group that thoroughly enjoyed the Open setup this year.

For three days the course was very challenging but also susceptible to good scores. It wasn't until Sunday that it became brutal and that was because of the weather, not something under their control.

Had the weather been good we would have had a winning score probably around -4.

We saw two different things, nothing wrong with that. Not really trying to confirm anything I just thought at the time that it was awkward and remember thinking yea there's probably still problems on the home front. Could very easily be wrong.

Maybe this will change your perspective. Go to the last minute or so. His wife is clearly crying after his win

Yes I'm sure there are some happy pictures of them, those look nice. Like I said, it was a personal observation and I could be wrong. I don't suck off Rory so still shots of him and his wife hugging don't exactly convince me things are good on the home front though. Their brief separation around that time and the fact he was probably banging Amanda Balonis and his seeming miserable attitude of late tells me different. I don't really care one way or the other, it's just personal opinion and not really something I can be convinced otherwise with a few pictures.

Had there not been rain all week, it would have gotten out of control

Sure, but not sure why they would plan an entire US Open around a "if it rained all four days" strategy/setup? When the weather was good, the course was almost perfect in regards to difficulty/fairness.

Just seems like people are mad they made all these "the course difficulty is overblown" predictions so they are hating on the course.

It was a fantastic tournament outside of the weather on Sunday imo.

Because it was soaked. This is extremely easy to understand. It rained 13 inches leading and during the week.

The setup was Mickey Mouse. The USGA got lucky. If all that rain would have missed Oakmont it would have been a shite show. Like totally unplayable.

So basically they had the course prepared correctly. Got it.

OMG the course MIGHT HAVE BEEN unplayable. The horror! It wasn't, so who gives a shite if it might have been worse.

Golf is a game of you vs. you and the elements. Everyone had to play in the same conditions. There were no advantages or disadvantages.. bottom line for the whole week was just keep the ball in the fairway and you give yourself a great shot at winning.
