Eh, Rory's earned the right to tell the media to frick off
Rory has had the media not only kiss his butt but prop him up as the godking of the PGA for the last many years and now he's acted like a complete tool to the media over the last couple of months and they still haven't even given him negative press. Does he want to go and fight everyone on twitter?

I thought he was giving his wife the cold shoulder also then saw him shhhsh his kid that she was holding. Hovland still had a significant putt ($) to make and he was just being professional in the moment.

I find his behavior lately baffling but we all go through shite sometimes. I hope he gets through whatever he is struggling with tho because i honestly like him as a player and dont wanna think hes a POS person.

I thought I read that there are rumors that he is moving back to the UK because his mom is sick.

Brutal round yesterday from Sam.
Ended up salvaging what I could from JJ.
We live to fight the books another day.

And of course I had to extend the sweat with a never-gonna-hit parlay.

It's a par 70 playing 7400 yards

Rory won the masters with 277 strokes
Spaun won the us open with 279
Par 70 on a course that length is dumb and the usga does it all the time to make people think “CARNAGE”

The length is fine. Making the fairways impossible to hit and then can’t advance it out of the rough is what keeps scores up

But the scores really aren’t that up
Masters winner-277
Us open winner-279
Amount of players 288 or better
Masters-29
Us open-23
It produced results very in line with Augusta, just in a shittier way

Most US Opens are par 70 or 71. Scores were definitely higher in this one than the average US Open. No idea why you’re comparing to this to The Masters or Augusta

They change par on course to make the public giddy because people are idiots

Those scores are manufactured at Oakmont by forcing guys to chop it out of the rough 2 feet off of a fairway that is practically unhittable. At Augusta, the test is the test and shot value is rewarded.
We saw it Sunday morning at Oakmont before it got sloppy, hit good shots and you could actually post a good score, but bad shots were heavily penalized. If it had been dry and gotten firm, it would have been even more fluky. How sloppy it was just made it a total crapshoot there at the end.
Thick rough like that generally always sucks, in my opinion. I thought last year at pinehurst was the best US Open in years as far as setup. I didn’t love all the fake native area off the fairways, but hitting good shots was actually obtainable.

Okay. Unlike the Masters, the same entity sets up the US Open every year. This setup combined with the weather was undoubtedly harder than the normal US Open. I have no idea what point you’re trying to make comparing it to The Masters
Posted on 6/16/25 at 8:59 am to Mingo Was His NameO
I agree with you 100%
Us open setups a lot of times are shite now. Total agreement with what it values
I’m just pointing out even with that, the usga still usually arbitrarily sets a lower par because they are becoming almost a gimmick of themselves

He’s saying the USGA just makes par 5s par 4s to change what the winner is under par in order to appease idiot casual fans. Which is true, but also irrelevant
